Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
The dealer checked it out and determined it was the cap.
Leading evidence: 'cap' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'cap' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check pm if you haven't yet' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

What I found out was that in August of 2008 (I believe) they changed the CPO coverages around slightly.

Although I think that has changed very slightly recently.

Question: Is changing brake fluid part of the standard CPO process?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After a year long affair with an F-car, I have returned. Just bought a CPO 996 GT3. Question: Is changing brake fluid part of the standard CPO process?
Thanks.
CPO coverage is not the same as the new car warranty anyway. There many things not covered. CPO is an inclusionary policy where they state in broad terms what is covered as opposed to what is not. No maintenance items are covered under CPO and many non maintenance items are not covered as well. Think of CPO mostly as major mechanical coverage.
Although I think that has changed very slightly recently. I took my car in late last year because I was loosing coolant (I couldn't find the leak). The dealer checked it out and determined it was the cap.
Now, I looked on-line at the CPO warranty and it appeared to be covered because it reference the whole coolant system.
What I found out was that in August of 2008 (I believe) they changed the CPO coverages around slightly. Since I bought mine in March I covered by the one that was in effect at that time (cap not covered). Porsche told me that my CPO was more mechanical and moving parts that were covered. Now they've expanded it.
Also - good luck with the new car!
The 6 six years is combined new car plus CPO warranty coverage. But, under Porsche's rules a car up to 8 years old can be certified.

On Autotrader.com there is at least one 2001 and several 2002 996s that are advertised with CPO warranties. So the end result is that CPO cars can cover about a 10 year span (an 8 y/o car plus a 2 year CPO warranty).
This is incorrect, at least as its stated in the CPO pdf available

is the CPO site where anyonce should be able to get a clear picture of the coverage limits.
Excellent information.
Just remember that this is the CPO if you purchase now. You're actual CPO might be slightly different, as mine is (purchase date of 03/2008).
I'm looking at the CPO Inspection Checklist that my dealer gave to me and Brake fluid/clutch fluid item is under section G. Fluids; this section has pass/fail checkboxes. If it fails, then my guess is that they either replace it or it fails CPO.

I can't argue that one. Drove the Porsche today Wayne!! Cold but clear day and salt/cinder-free roads. She runs beautifully - absolutely like new. Oh yeah, I forgot,
she is essentially new
. BTW, I lied about my mileage - thought it was 3500, but it's actually 3150, but what's a few miles among friends??
OMG, now Phil has taken to rolling back the odometer!!!! He really is a sick man!
Well, I guess when one only sees the odometer once a quarter, I can undersatand not remembering the mileage!
My coolant cap seems to be leaking... still under CPO for 1 month... is that covered... have read many items on this and some people say it is, some peopl say it isn't.
Not sure if it is or isn't covered. Either way, the coolant cap is not that expensive. The latest version of the cap has a part number that ends in 02.
FWIW - Checked with dealer today, they did brake fluid as part of CPO process. Not sure if this is standard or not. But thought I would post and let ya know.
Oh, and GT3 is a special beast.
Did they give you the CPO checklist for your car? It should be a black & grey folder that has 3 yellow carbon copies of the checklist that the tech used to CPO your car.

M-D,
Thanks. No they did not. I didn't know to request it as this is the first CPO car I have purchased. I've dealt with this dealer on two Ferrari purchases and now two 911 purchases (997TT and now the GT3). I have complete confidence in their representations. (Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro. Consider this my strong recommendation of them).
