Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Locally, there was a GT3 for sale on the dealers lot that had 4000 DE and track day miles on it - as I understand it the driver bought it to use while he waited for the GT3 he custom ordered.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

C2 ?...what's your DE experience, is this your first porsche, is it strictly for track use or dual purpose, if latter, do you need tha back seats...what's the asking price.....need more details,... a lot of us here have really thought about getting a dedicted DE. car, so with more details I can give you my opinion.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, its actually my car, a C2 Cab with Roll bar,
PSS9's, PSE, dual use car. Non instructed run group. I have been thinking about selling, and was actually wondering what kind of problems I might have selling a tracked car. Most of the ads I see state " the car has never been tracked, been wet, etc, etc." I personally don't have a problem, short of being wrecked, a tracked car is generally been better taken care of than many dealer maintained garage queens JMO
You are right, it should not be a negative factor, but I'm afraid it will be regarded as one by most buyers who may not be interestedd in tracking at all, I can only hope that the bar can be removed and sold seperately as you are definitely not going to get the money for it. I don't have any first hand experience with this process, I am not planning to sell mine, but still all my stuff, including the roll bar, harness,gt3 seats etc., can be removed and sold seperately....I am curious to know how it goes, keep us posted.
Thanks
Jeeva
You don't have to be deceitful in this situation but I wouldn't say you have tracked the car. I would be honest and say you have participated in several DE's. Drivers Education at a track to learn how to drive the car better sounds much better than "I tracked it". We all know they are one in the same, if one of us were buying it wouldn't matter, but the average Joe on the street might freak out.
Locally, there was a GT3 for sale on the dealers lot that had 4000 DE and track day miles on it - as I understand it the driver bought it to use while he waited for the GT3 he custom ordered. An incorrect downshift was made, and the computer reported that the engine hit 14,000 rpm. Oddly enough, the only damage found was that the crankshaft pulley pin sheared. The dealer put it out on the lot for sale after fixing the pulley and raising the car back up to stock ride height. I am not sure what the dealer had to say about the cars history to the new owner.
No way could I get interested in a car like this.

When I sold my '99 last year it had a number of DE's on it. The buyer never asked about it because it clearly had been well maintained and I don't think that had ever occured to him. If it doesn't look like a track *****, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I mentioned it to him afterwards in conversation and suggested that he might be interested in trying something like this to learn new skills and better experience the car's capabilities and he was open to the idea.
Hey I know your car- and I'd love to buy it! In fact I've even driven it! With your wife!
All that said, I think you know that my wife (alternatively known as the "Boss" or the "Pit Babe" depending more on her mood than mine) wants a Z4 (ugh) or maybe a new Boxster instead of the 996 cab that I am trying to talk her into.....
seriously I don't think your doing DEs would affect the value one bit- but agree the don't tell except if asked advice is sound- as DE neophytes might not agree.
Hey George,
I still hold you responsible for this madness. I really don't want to sell "ole yeller" , but I might work a deal for you just to keep it in the family, and you out of the Z4 OR Boxster decision.. Just exploring for the moment. It's getting tough keeping two of these beasts on the track, $$. Thinking about turning spouses car to serious track car. of course with her kind approval. JMO
Those two get around. I have been in that car with his wife too.
Sell the car if you must but what ever you do, don't let Deb get away!
Be straight up and open with all aspects of the car good and bad. Long after the car is sold and the $ spent you will still sleep better.
Are you two going to share the one car? Believe it or not I think that works. You just buy more pads, rotors and tires. But it's a lot cheaper than two track cars.
The Mrs. and I really haven't decided what to do- I am NOT giving up a perfectly good 528i for a Z4. A new Boxster yes but not a Z4. I suspect I'll be keeping it for awhile longer.
Thanks all, for the feedback.
