Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
As it gets dirty, the color changes, almost to an orange.
Leading evidence: 'Replace almost' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace almost' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Considering buying a 2000 Guards Red 996 with full black leather. Low miles, 2 owners, etc.
Main question is the exterior color. I see very few on the street & do not see any discussions here on the color.
Opinions ?
I love my red Porsche. Red is a color for sports cars
Flashier than silver, less so than yellow, not as subtle as black.
If it's in good condition do not hesitate, you will not regret it
Thanks for the reply ! My 86 944 Turbo is Guards Red.
Another concern is the difference in the 2002 + cars. Concerned that I will regret not getting the extra 20 HP, etc. if i go with the 2000.
about 90% of Porsche production is now either black or silver....
...appearently because we want it that way !!!
are we really that boring.....
can we start a campaign for sports cars never being black or silver any more ???
Love red. Everyone points at my car (well, not everyone, but a lot). I've had people roll heir windows down and tell me how nice it is, same in parking lots.
Every Porsche I see today seems to be silver. Its getting to be very commom. Go for the jugular. Get the red one.
If HP is your only concern, don't worry. When I was looking for a 996, the difference in power between a '99 and '02 was barely noticable. My advice is to drive both, then decide.
My 2000 C4 is GR.....I really like the color. It looks considerably better when recently washed and waxed. As it gets dirty, the color changes, almost to an orange. Wash it and it instantly returns back to the deep lusterous red. It is a great color, real eye candy. I hardly ever see GR color cars anymore either, and I am bored with silver.......
