Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, I drive from NYC to Stanford yesterday in the middle of the day. The temp gauge is reading 99 Deg and its just stinking hot. I finally give in and close the windows and turn on the AC. Well, I have a chance to gun it and after dropping to 2nd, I give it some WOT gas and ...... putt, putt, putt and slowly to speed! Happened each time out of the toll booths as well. Is this a function of the Fabspeed air intake? I feel like the AC really kills the acceleration, but I guess humidity also does it. My last car was a S4, so the forced induction made up for the heavy air, I guess.
On the flip side, the heavy air made the car louder than ever!
Anyone else have these experiences, or is my car doomed!
Interesting. I never turn my air off. It's always p*ssing down rain here and dry interior air is nice. Occasionally I turn the a/c off but have never noticed any difference other than lumpy idle with the a/c off.
Did you turn the a/c off and have your acceleration return? Wonder if there's something wrong with the compressor that's lugging your engine...
Yetis, I also was in the area yesterday, but I do not experince that slowness you were mentioning. My Targa works just fine, not sure if my recent modifications makes a diffrence but whe really runs like the wind. Isn't Driving In NYC a TRIP ! :-)
Your A/C should cut out when under heavy throttle, so this should not be an issue. The heat an humidity more likely have an effect. If I remember, each 5 degrees is worth about 1% in power (PV=nRT).
assuming nominal HP at 20 degrees C and 300HP, that makes it about 3.5 times 3 or a loss of 10.5 HP. doesn't seem like enough for that dramatic an effect.
Several years ago I drove my then 1999 C2 across AR in 100F+ heat, no engine performance problems whatsoever. One of the radiator fans did fail but I compensated ( reduced the compressor loading of the engine and the heat load on the radiators) by eliminating the reheat path in the A/C system...

excuse my ignorance, but where is Stanford? Or do you mean Stamford in CT?
either way, my car hasn't gotten the acceleration cuts you're speaking about. I "think" my car is much louder when its hot and AC is on, but it could be just my imagination... plus most of my driving is city driving and humidity is a bitch right now, but I haven't felt anything too much out of the ordinary..
should have it checked if it keeps up
I have a 01 with no engine and/or exhaust modifications, the A/C doesn't seem to effect performance (at least according to the butt dyno) that much if at all when in the proper gear. However, it does seem to have more of an effect on response when not selecting the best gear and letting the revs drop below 2500 or so (i.e. taking a turn to slow and not shifting down far enough).
Evo, the the M and the N are so close together... Stamford.
Here I am thinking that its only the weather and now it looks like it might be something more...grrrrr!
Thank you
