Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

looking at a 2002 porsche certified C2 Cab. 18k miles - mint. dealer askin 60K. my question is how do I handle the RMS issue? I would have no idea what to look for, and given it's under warranty, should I even worry?

POST 2Original post

whats to handle? Is it leaking or not. If it's leaking it's covered by warranty. look for a puddle or spot of oil under the car between the engine and trans...

POST 3Original post

Ask the service department to run the VIN and they should be able to tell you what work has been done on the car and where. You will know if it's been replaced. Just get a warranty, the RMS is no big deal. mine has been replaced twice and it's a one day job at N/C under warranty

POST 4Original post

I would have the seller perform a complete diag and engine overview, RMS is either leaking or not, It's that simply. See if you can squeeze a detail in the deal. Good luck...

POST 5Original post

Shap... what the others are saying is really good advice, especially since you are the one paying for this baby don't be afraid to ask them to do diagnostic, or to put the car on a lift in the shop and let you take a look under it or to do anything reasonable so as to help you make an informed decision. Spotting an RMS leak is pretty easy. Just get under the car (while its on a lift) and look to the area where the engine meets the transmission. If you see oil seepage or spread it is most likely because of an RMS issue. It will need to be fixed by the dealer. Good luck on your car!!! I hope you get it... Jim
