Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had a slight RMS at about 5K miles, repaired under warranty and I'm coming up on 25K miles without a repeat.

I wonder if drastic ambient temperature changes make it worse too...

Daily driver and all I ever had to do was change the oil and replace tires, and the brakes finally needed replacing at the 58K mark.

Besides that it was 100% reliable and cheap to run [insurance on an under 25 unmarried male notwithstanding]
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Dealer spotted it at the 15K and repaired it. He couldn't tell me whether or not there is a new design with the seal, or if it would never happen again. I'm convinced that this is just a band aid that it'll just come back from everything I've read. I've never seen a drop of oil in my garage. At least it was under warranty this time.
Meh Just drive the car , you cant let it bother you, I am on my third one, I Still love the car, 35 k and going strong. And believe it or not The P-car dealer loves to do these under warrany ,Job pays 8 hours and takes maybe four....so it may or may not needed to be changed
Just curious, how often do you guys drive your cars? It seems that daily drivers have fewer problems (especially with repeated RMS), although my RMS was repaired at about 18,000 miles or so.
I wonder if drastic ambient temperature changes make it worse too...
I had a slight RMS at about 5K miles, repaired under warranty and I'm coming up on 25K miles without a repeat. They don't necessarily come back based on my experience to date...............
doesn't bother me now either since i didn't have to pay for it
. however it's gonna bother me a hell of a lot more when this car goes out of warranty in 5 months and the tab is on me next time.
my pcar is a just a weekender. probably only 5K miles a year.
I wouldn't be so convinced if I were you. With any luck, it will not return for you. It is possible that the problem may be that you don't drive it very much. Impossible to know without seeing the car, but I understand that driving your car in a very spirited manner can potentially seat the seals better so that RMS leaks/seapage is less likely to develop. Attend a few DEs and drive your car like the good Dr. intended.
I never had an RMS in my 2001 Carrera, and I definitely drove the wheels off of it [always waited for the car to warm up first though]. When I handed over the car it had covered 64,000 Miles. Daily driver and all I ever had to do was change the oil and replace tires, and the brakes finally needed replacing at the 58K mark. Besides that it was 100% reliable and cheap to run [insurance on an under 25 unmarried male notwithstanding]
I never had a problem with my 2001 C4, drove it everyday in all weather, it had 55,000 miles on it when I sold it.
My C4S Cab has 27,000 miles, no issues so far... I'm looking for wood to knock on.
