Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

02 Targa..Full leather...Advanced Technic Pkg, Stainless Steel Exhaust...It has the colors I want..Targa is OK w me..I have a call to the dealership..waiting on response. 48k...asking 28,850....I would probably start around 22,500 and see. Thanks Joe

POST 2Original post

Looks very nice! Start with a PPI and begin your negotiations based on the results.

POST 3Original post

Nice car. I've never driven a new Targa but they have their own charms. Get the inspection and join the club!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe moot! Website says sale pending

POST 6Original post

do they have more pics of it somewhere, the drivers front lower looks like some curb rash, the hood looks a little streeked? the center console looks like its pretty worn with flakey spots even still I think 22.5 would be low for this car

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are a bunch more pics http://xsellmotors.com/web/vehicle_photos/739662 ..Looks pretty clean. Again, the site says sale pending..I will call tomorrow. J

POST 8Original post

so its nice - but I saw some things to pick at and let you know drivers sill plate heavily worn console has lots of wear around the ashtray looks like a scratch (see white) unser the rear deack lid about left of center (might be wax? cuz its on the lid too?) they didnt detail the motor at all rear seat backs look ? funny? one higher than the other ?? might not be latched? some broken pieces under the front drovers side (plastic, consistant with my thought of curb rash - see wheel pic) all in all I see nothing major

POST 9Original post

[I][Start with a PPI and begin your negotiations based on the results. /I] I would do the exact opposite. Negotiate to a price you could live with (why spend money for a PPI if the dealer is unrelistic with their price). Then do a PPI and if then renegotiate if the PPI isn't good. If you spend money on a PPI first then they know you are already into the car. Remember these cars are not one of a kind. There are a TON for sale. Don't be impatient. Get what you want for the price you want. I was patient with my last car purchase and got an incredible car for an incredible price. Patience!

POST 10Original post

yea I think I agree... no sense spending $$ if in the end the dealer wont sell the car for an amount you can agree on... get the price, then state clearly - subject to PPI - the PPI somewhere else (not at that dealer) and then return with results and start to hammer them on what issues were found or walk away if the issues are too much / dealer not willing to negociate based on issues have any / all issues priced out for repair so you know what they mean (in other words if it needs a clucth, know that will deduct $xxxx.xx from the sale price)

I agree with your observations. I guess that leather on the console is hard to keep nice looking. And it does look like they drove up on a parking block or something. Can the sill be replaced and if so how much $$$?If the car is still available, I will ask alot of questions! Thanks for all of the responses J

POST 12Original post

Make sure you really want a targa... Its a different animal than the coupe or cab. You should also take a look at the option sticker under the hood.... options make these cars really expensive.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 8176512

Just out of curiosity, what makes the Targa a different animal? Does it handle differently?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8176512

Yeah..I ran the VIN and it came back with full leather, 18" SportDesign wheels, Litronic headlights. I havent driven one yet, but I have read that they are similar to the coupe. J

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 8176342

I agree....just happened to leave that first part out. Agree on a price, PPI than negotiate.

POST 16Original post

The targa adds a bit of weight high in the center of balance. If you plan to track the car a targa is probably not the best choice. The targa roof mechanism can be very expensive to repair and in general targas are going to sell for more than a coupe.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I heard the weight gain is somewhere between the coupe and cab. I will consider the extra mechanics also. I will probably end up with a coupe, just exploring all my options. J

POST 18Original post

also the coupe is a tad less flexible (a good thing )

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here's another one. 04 w 60k asking 30,000. Its a dealer, so I dont pay much attention to the price! Has 18" wheels and PSM, sport exhaust, Bose http://www.1statlantaautofinance.com...-CARRERA.shtml

POST 22Original post

I tried a couple of Targas when I bought my C4S. Both Targas had squeeks in the rear window mechanism.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8178408

Yeah..Just noticed those too! Any idea where to start the fair offer? J

POST 24Original post

options..... Buy it or dont buy it! Pretty simple really

POST 25Original post

Haha! It does look out of place there! May have to go see it. Its about 7 hrs away.

POST 29Original post

HEATED Sport Seats. Mine aren't and I hear about it every time a certain little downy end snuggles into them.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any ideas on a "fair" price for this one?

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 8180755

FWIW - I just paid $24K for a 2001 with 53K miles, partial leather, standard seats, no PSM, Tiptronic.
