I've got a set of cat bypass pipes on the way...this particular set (pretty sure made in Taiwan but for $200 what the hell) has 2 resonators that look like cats.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've got a set of cat bypass pipes on the way...this particular set (pretty sure made in Taiwan but for $200 what the hell) has 2 resonators that look like cats. Am I going to get a CEL unless I invest in the O2 sensor adapters? I see two different places selling them...fabspeed for $150 and maxspeed has em for $49 each. Same parts? Anyone know?
ya off Ebay...the seller says they are Ztek units. Which they look exactly like the ones on Ztek's site. We'll see...they might be garbage. They are stainless and its not like there is as much craftsmanship that has to go into a couple bipass pipes as compared to a set headers or mufflers (which i personally wouldnt buy ebay-specials of).
Soon as i get im post up some pictures and sound clips.
One more question...if i install prior to getting the O2 sensor adapters and the CEL goes off will the OBD throw the system into a limp mode causing runability issues thinking ive got bad cats? The car is a 2004...im not too familiar with these newer systems...sure do miss the simplicity of a good set of 46mm Webers!
Just the CEL will come on but nothing else will happen to the car. 996/986 race cars run w/o the cats and the CEL on all the time. If you get a basic $29 autozone OBD scanner you can reset the CEL yourself. Just get the O2 sensor spacers unless you are handy and can make a set yourself from spark plug arrestors drilled out to fit the 02 sensors.
My pipes showed up today...everything looked great...until....i went to install the O2 sensors and i find that one of the bungs was stripped out! I was pissed! Luckily my local shop had a tap large enough and we had enough meat to rethread it. Once back home i installed the new bypass pipes and off for a test drive. Great sound...no drone in the cabin whatsoever...nice deep idle and only gets better all the way too redline. Here is a picture of the pipes before install...and tomorrow i will video it and post some sound clips.
