Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I run Moble 1 15/50 because I can't find Moble 1 0/40 (and I've look all around here, down on the Gulf Coast, over in Ky, Al, and Ga).

I use the Moble 15/50w because it's warm in Arizona and Walmart has it by the 5 quart container for like 20 something bucks.

Suggestion
I have used it for years and did an oil change recently on my 996 C2 and the RMS problem went away too.
Use plant based lubricants in the engine and tranny

I actually do use plant based lubricants in the engine and tranny.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

So what oil should I pick up for the 2001 C4, very low mileage, infrequently driven here in SoCal.
Any short and good recommendations? I know this has been discussed before but it is difficult to read through hundreds of posts with all the bickering in between. I don't want to make this a science project.
I just want to have a simple answer like: Go to Kragen's (or any other local parts pusher) or online and get 12 quarts of xxx. Can someone help?
And if someone is aware of a promotion at Costco, Target or other outlet for an acceptable 0W-40 or 5W-40 that made it on Porsche's list I wouldn't mind spending a little less than 7 bucks a quart....
Cheers,
Ingo
Being in SoCal, I would use a multi-viscocity 50 weight of some kind as the factory manual says. Once winter rolls around, 40 weight would be fine.
With M1 lowering the zinc (anti-wear additive) nowdays, I feel some of the conventional racing oils are possibly better for the motor (I am no expert).
I think running any full synthetic multi-viscocity oil would be fine long as it has around 50 weight for the summer IMO.

I run Moble 1 15/50 because I can't find Moble 1 0/40 (and I've look all around here, down on the Gulf Coast, over in Ky, Al, and Ga). My manual states that 15/50 is okay so that my option.

I've used Mobil OW-40 and 15W-50( in the summer months) and didn't notice any differences in my Porsche. There isn't only "1" right oil viscosity or brand based on input on Rennlist.
