Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

photo by Kirby I finally decided to sell the car... (and actually be sort of serious about it). 2002 C4S Artic Silver / Graphite gray 6 speed. Bose w/ 6 CD changer. TrafficPro Nav. About 15K miles. Leather visors. AI V1 rear view mirror Sequential shifter. GT3 seats (painted Artic Silver backs) Lots of Artic Silver parts inside. 19" HRE's SmartTire sensor system. Boothe Silver Crest center caps. Factory Silver Crest airbag. Techart Steering wheel. Gemballa coilovers and Gemball sport exhaust. Porsche SS roll bar. Red belts. Ruff pedals. Safecraft extinguisher. Passenger floorboard. GT3 brake ducts. And more... (total about $30k in mods if I recall correctly) Stock seats, exhaust & stock shifter can go w/ the car. (The dealer is going to put in a complete new instrument cluster, so buyer can have whatever color they want) Asking $72 K

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

an interior shot... The car now has the AS side ac vents in and I also have the arctic silver center console... if that 'look' is preferred. and an angle from the rear

POST 3Original post

love the sequential shifter i read a very interesting article about that in excellence.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pretty much finished doing what I wanted to / with it some months back and started to get bored with it. At that time a buddy thought he wanted it, so I agreed to sell it to him, (but his circumstances changed and he did not get to buy it). So I thought about selling it (with the supercharger that was ready to go in), but that was a complicated sales concept, so I was going to keep it (it is indeed a very cool car). But the reality is that I am done with it and ready to move on.

POST 6Original post

Where did you get the floor mats with the crest on them? Those are fantastic!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what do ya know... a photo with a better picture of the shifter and the floor mats all in one! I found the mats on ebay... from : European Car Parts and Mats [[email removed]]

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have not really decided... The 997's look interesting or I really like the SL500 (SL55's). Although I imagine I may just see what strikes me as time goes by...

POST 11Original post

Wow that car is simply gorgeous. If only I had the money.

POST 12Original post

I hear you, big difference between a 997 and a SL, lots of good deals on 996TTs.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the heads up it is an 0 2 (typo fixed)

POST 14Original post

What really strikes me are the girls in your avatar. Very nice. Oh and your car looks like a very special machine. I'm sure it will be missed, at least until the next 'project' gets into full swing. Good luck with the sell. Coming to a car forum near you: A happy owner posting pix of his hot new Porsche.

POST 15Original post

Great looking car! Two comments: pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is that "sequential shifter"? Second, a year ago I traded my SL 500 for the C4S, so I can tell you it is a beautiful car (which is why I bought it), but I was bored to tears driving it--I got rid of it in 3 months. I understand the SL 55 is more of the same, except with lots more HP, but similar handling. Good luck finding your next toy--please let us know how it turns out.

POST 17Original post

Another pic of Dougs car...and mine.... Doug's car is really well kept, I'd say it's the second cleanest car I know!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The sequential shifter replaces the shift handle unit inside the car. You loose the H pattern shift movement, and in order to up shift one gear you merely pull straight back (about 2.5 inches of **** travel). Then (after allowing the handle to return to center (vertical) to up-shift to the next gear, you pull back again. It shifts one gear at a time and you cannot skip any. To downshift, you push forward, etc. This unit still requires that the clutch be used.

POST 19Original post

Wow I didn't even know you could buy stuff like that for street cars. Do you like it better than a traditional gated setup? I've seen this style of shifter on WRC.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got is mostly as a 'toy' and because nobody seemed to have it. (It is nice to be different). Since it is impossible to miss a gate, and the 'throw' is about 2.5 inches, I would say it is better than 'stock'.

POST 21Original post

Off topic, but wondering what tire size setup you're supposed to have for 19" rims. Front and back please. For some reason, the stock front tires seem to "square" for my taste. I'm not sure how to define it other than saying it's square. I like more of a stretched look for the tire. Any info is appreciated. BTW, your car looks great.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thank you... I will look up the tire sizes. The Conti2's are the 'square look' that you don't like Yokahama's are a bit more stretched / 'rounded at the edge. I will see if I have any pics of the Yok's when I had them on the car

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

tires; fronts = 235/35-19 rears = 315/25-19

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

simple... from 1st gear, pull up on a ring below the ****, and push forward... whalla - reverso

POST 26Original post

Thanks for the tire sizes.... btw, I've read various posts from people regarding upgrading wheel sizes and pros/cons. In your opinion, what do you think were the differences? Feel, handling, road noise, etc.?

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

lower side wall = stiffer = worse ride... although not objectionable to me. I did it for 'looks'... They are also a bit noisier again, not a problem for me.

POST 28Original post

i would miss not being able to skip gears. coming off the freeway its common to go from 6th to 3rd--helps in slowing down and preparing for the curve. are you sorry you did all those mods? they don't seem to improve resale significantly.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Everyone has their own 'bad driving' habits I guess... I used to go from 2nd to 5th (or 6th) when getting on the freeway... I never do mods for resale value, I do them because 'I' want them... If it turns out no one is interested in paying 20 - 30 cents on the dollar for the mods, the car is scheduled to go back to stock. If that happens, people are already lined up to buy various parts... so I will get at least what I want out of it either way.

POST 31Original post

Can you please let me know who makes the shifter? Or a web site to the mfg? I'd like to do a bit of research on it. Thanks, Darren
