Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys: After much hemming and hawing, mental gymnastics, and a hard look at the numbers, I decided to trade in my '04 911 Cab AND my '04 Lexus LX470 for an '04 TT Cab. Here was my thinking: 1. Still have another SUV for the wife-- the Lexus was a third car and overkill; 2. I really want to get down to 2 cars, not 3, for costs reasons and because I have a 2 car garage! 3. In the end, I save about 600/mo. in car payments going from 3 cars to 2 4. I get a TT and actually save money! Obviously I took a bit of a bath on the trade-ins (some "negative equity" added to the cost of the TT). But I am much happier, and really look forward to using the TT as a daily driver. I hated having the P-car sit in the garage all week-- couldn't enjoy it. I plan to drive the TT everyday and as much and possible-- why not??? I plan to take good care of the car, but the idea of driving it as little as possible to preserve re-sale value just doesn't work for me. (I think most on this board agree). I pick up the TT tomorrow-- a new '04, seal grey/grey. A few pics from the dealer are below.

POST 2Original post

absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! I've been hemming & hawing too about bumping up to a turbo s but I'm about to drop 6 figures on my upcoming wedding/honeymoon/wedding gift so I don't think it would be the best financial move on my part. so until then i can only live vicariously through guys like you - CONGRATS!!!!

POST 3Original post

You SUCK. Man that is so sweet. I've been doing much the same, though not with downsizing. My '04 C4S Cab is a blast, and I'm really not hating a thing about it. But there are a few TTS Cabs around and I've been looking. Trouble is, not too many dealers want to part with their 18% markup on these beasts, and I'm not about to pad their wallets to that extent. Oh well, guess I better go slummin' in the C4S Cab to get my mind off this tragedy. All the best man, you are going to love it!

POST 4Original post

Wow--nice trade--When its starts to get warmer 60s or so with the top down --the smile on ur face as you pull on to the highway will be worth every penny!!! I know I always have that goofy smile Mike

POST 5Original post

congrats, beautiful - i love the seal grey color. i'm still rolling around on my decision - perhaps parting with my AMG for a p-car. would love all those horses ...

POST 7Original post

Congrats......Thats were i want to end up as well.

POST 8Original post

Nicely done - and a cab too. I almost pulled the trigger on an 02 TT but I just couldn't convince myself that the top down motoring isn't important. Now I'm just waiting for depreciation to pull the Cab TT just a bit closer to my $$ comfort zone.

POST 9Original post

Nicely done! If you need snows let me know, I got a set.

POST 10Original post

I'm with you on driving it every day. Maybe one day in the future I will be worrying about how all those miles are going to affect resale but right now I am enjoying my commute. I do leave the car at home some days...some days I take the motorcycle instead!

POST 11Original post

Congratulations. I would offer as a suggestion sending the rear bumperettes to Eric at Bumperplugs.com and having them painted to match the body. I did this on my 996TT (as well as a non smoker's kit painted to match the factory painted center console, Lapis Blue) and couldn't have been happier with the quality or results. Enjoy the car.

POST 12Original post

Strange, why are the rear bumperettes black on the TT, and painted on the C2?

POST 13Original post

Congrats on the TT. Beautiful car and great color. You're going to love it.

POST 14Original post

Congrats! That's one sweet ride. Love the color and hardtop!

POST 15Original post

dealers should get more realistic when the unsold ones languish on their lots for a 6 months +

POST 16Original post

I may upgrade a couple years after the 997 Turbo is out.

POST 17Original post

Hey Lewis, and others - NO need to send us bumperettes or rear center consoles in advance anymore. When we moved global headquarters, we put a larger warehouse together with the office, and now we keep cores in stock, ready to go into production. We send you the painted parts, you send back your cores. No need to be without. Works for most interior parts (ignition rosette, hazard, front center console, batwing, rear consoles, etc). Thanks!

POST 18Original post

Starting in '02, the standard C2 came with a revised part. It's a clamshell, roughly a 3-part piece, with a hard outer shell of plastic. We started painting the black ones years ago, and perfected a way to layer a flexible factory matched finish onto the rubber. Been doing it ever since. Turbo/C4S, Boxster/Boxster S all have the black ones. At least for now.

Hey guys, thanks for all the positive replies! It's great to have such support, particularly when your feelling a bit guilty for spending more money for a car than most of America does for a house. I feel much better now after having read all of your replies. Thanks again. GBG
