Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Does anyone have any experience using car ramps for doing an oil change? If so can you recommend a type, style or brand of ramps. Maybe something with a low rise. Any difficulty using the ramps? Thx Jim

Thx Jim... I've been using jack stands which I have always thought were a pain in the backside...along with my standard 6 inch deep plastic drain thingy...the oil filter is easy to grasp anyway... I thought about ramps, but the back tires on my car are like WIDE...that fit alone is the major issue for me on ramps... There's about 5 inches of clearance between the plug and floor...I'll check down at Schucks and check for a low profile unit like you suggest...never thought of that...did someone say something about common sense!!! BTW have you ever thought about using an pump oil type extractor like MB uses in their oil servicing? Thx guy... Jim

POST 4Original post

BTW have you ever thought about using an pump oil type extractor like MB uses in their oil servicing? I have used a pump on my boat, but that was necesitated becuase it was in the water. I believe it is much better to warm up the car a little and let the oil drain completly from the bottom of the pan. Better chance that any heavy particles in the oil will be removed. You only have to do it a few times a year anyway.

POST 5Original post

i use ramps to change my oil... i do have to use two 2x6 boards(about 3 ft long) so the *** end doesnt hit the ramp before the tires...it works great!!
