Also a cheap way to ensure your car is armed is let your key fob battery die like mine and just use the key to lock and arm : ).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know how to make the security system go bleep when you arm or disarm?

POST 2Original post

if it does it means there is an entry point unsecure....most commonly the glove box (rear center console) is usually not shut all the way.

POST 3Original post

Do you mean honk the horn? Mine honks at random, I have no idea why.

POST 4Original post

Nazz, yes. If your horn honks you have something like a glove box open, etc.

POST 5Original post

I don't have a glove box and typically nothing is ever open. I'll make sure that I secure everything and try to notice if it happens again.

POST 6Original post

You do have one..it is not the one in the dash like the 02-04's. I am referring to the one at the rear of the rear center console (it's probably called something else though).

POST 7Original post

if you've installed an aftermarket audio deck, that mite be the reason. mine started beeping all the time after i installed my alpine unit...not that i mind really...the honk lets me know the car is locked.

POST 8Original post

Nazz-you're probably pushing the button repeatedly to cause the honking. I believe if you got a passenger waiting inside and want to lock the doors and not trigger the alarm you press arm button twice and it'll switch off the alarm. TLMTLM-do you mean you want to hear a beep when it arms like one beep for armed and 2 beeps for disarmed? I don't think it can be done. Neone with an answer. Mike

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, sorry, I should have been clearer in my original post. I am looking for a way to have my horn (or a secondary horn or something) beep when the alarm is set, and beep again when the remote control disables the alarm and opens the locks (or something like that). In other words, something audible (like many other cars have these days). The flahing lights alone are not optimal for a variety of reasons. Thanks.

POST 10Original post

My first complaint with the new car; you dont know when the security is on or off or not. All other cars beep when you lock the doors with the key alarm. This one doesnt. So with its hap-hazard remote that doesnt activate half of the time anyway, you can never tell if its on or off. What the system does do; is beep when you leave one of the activators un armed. Like the console glove box. So if you leave the box open and activate the system with the key alarm, it beeps. And the security system does still function. SO if you go into the console in front of the box, and unplug the small connector to the mini switch to the box latch, it is open perminately. And your system will beep when you activate it.

POST 11Original post

press the key fob lock/unlock button twice in succession and it will beep when you lock the car.

POST 12Original post

Scouser, if you do that, you'll be de-activating the sensors inside the car.

POST 13Original post

The double click on the button does disarm the motion sensor detectors inside the car. But, thieves would have to break in the car first and trigger other sensors anyway before they trigger the inside motion detectors since I have a coupe. So, I double click when I'm in a hurry and hear the beep as I go away. When not in a hurry, I click once, look back and see the double light flash, admire the car, thankfull I'm lucky to have one, and move on .

POST 14Original post

Also a cheap way to ensure your car is armed is let your key fob battery die like mine and just use the key to lock and arm : ). By the way-what battery I have to use on the key fob and nething I need to do memorywise since battery has been dead for like a year-lol!! Regards. Mike

POST 15Original post

IIRC, if you get the honk because of the stereo (mine was a loose ground on the OEM stere), the security system is not armed. Anyone back me up on this?

POST 16Original post

No, if it honks, its armed. But there is one component in the car that isnt making contact. Thats the way the system is described in the manual.

POST 18Original post

I finally paid attention this time and I was unloading the trunk. I locked the car and it honked. I'm pretty sure now that the passengerside door has been open in the past which would've made it honk. Damnit!!! I wish my owners manual would come in!

POST 19Original post

Nazz: If you want your horn to beep; the easiest would be to take your stereo out, and put a piece of tape over the alarm contact (or you might have to take the tape off, I forget). Anyway, when I installed my Nakamichi deck I purposely kept this contact open, for the sole purpose I could hear the horn beep so I know for sure the alarm in on. On the stock deck, I think you can do this too. So the beep is a way to know your alarm is active, even though its the car telling you a circuit is open somewhere. Edward

POST 20Original post

newer cars dont have the contact on the radio

POST 21Original post

Since I changed my CR-220 to the new Traffic Pro, it beeps when the car is armed everytime. Is it because of the radio???

POST 22Original post

you have a 02. they had the contact on the radio. maybe the new radio doesnt contact that point. Try putting a grounded wire to that point on the frame that the radio mounts in. And then it will probibly stop beeping.

POST 23Original post

I too was bothered by the fact that the alarm didn't beep or chirp when armed, and it was hard to tell whether the front signals blinked (which you can only see from directly in front). So, I did Sandy's blinking-side-marker-lights hack. Now, my side markers blink with the turn signals, so I can easily see them when I arm the alarm. They also stay on as before whenever the headlights or parking lights are on.

POST 24Original post

Yes. The 220 has a plastic insulating sticker on the side for the radio alarm contact. TrafficPro does not have this sticker. Pull the radio out and put a piece of tape in the same area.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How does one implement "Sandy's blinking-side-marker-lights hack"?

POST 26Original post

Guys I had the same problem with the sony deck in my boxster, if you leave the car after the beep and do nothing about it I found the alarm would go off all the time in the garage, I ended up leaving it unlocked till I finnaly sorted the problem to the stereo . Regards
