There is much more of the little black "skirt" visible in front of the headlight now (I'm using his existing turbo "skirt" things - from searching the archives prior to trying the test fit, people said you need the turbo "skirt" things NOT the ones from the stock bumper that you just transfer over).

When you replace a standard bumper with the TT bumper do you also have to replace the air ducts/deflectors or can you use the existing ones?

For example, if you run your hand down the hood, when you come to very front of it (by the Porsche crest) you should just go right over the gap and onto the front bumper.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a friend who just went with a GT2 front on his turbo. I was planning to buy his bumper, get it painted and install it on my '02 C2 cab. Anyway, I tried test fitting it last PM and am wondering if I am doing something wrong. It just doesn't fit well. There is much more of the little black "skirt" visible in front of the headlight now (I'm using his existing turbo "skirt" things - from searching the archives prior to trying the test fit, people said you need the turbo "skirt" things NOT the ones from the stock bumper that you just transfer over). Also, when the hood closes, the turbo bumper is a bit higher in front than it should be. For example, if you run your hand down the hood, when you come to very front of it (by the Porsche crest) you should just go right over the gap and onto the front bumper. With the turbo bumper, it sits up about 4mm higher than it should and looks a bit odd. The top screws are in (under the rubber piece that hides the hood latch mechanism) - the other screws are all lining up well. any ideas? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

I know the bottom of the TT bumper doesn't reach the C2's bolt location. I wasn't aware the top doesn't line up. What did you do to the bottom? Tie wraps or extenstion bracket? Maybe when the bottom is bolted or properly secured, the top will line up? There are a few how to on this forum and tenntech.org.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I didn't do anything to the bottom yet. I was planning on just making some brackets like I've seen done before. The top screw holes line up fine, the actual top of the bumper is a tiny bit higher. So, when the hood is closed and you run your hand down the hood, there is a little step up when you get to the bumper.

POST 4Original post

If you push down on the bumper, would it move? Is it loose? If so, your brackets on the bottom may be the reason the bumper is not flat on the top with the hood.

POST 5Original post

The bumper support is not as wide on the TT...this will probably hinder it from fitting properly....I think you need to cut a few inches off each side...its not a direct bolt on..you need to do a few things to get it to work....

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

djantlive - Nope, it doesn't move at all. I think the only thing securing the bottom would do is keep it secure. Maybe I'll make some brackets just to be sure. newport996 - I've found what you describe re: the bumper support. It appears the only reason people cut it is that they don't like to see it through the bumper grills. I've seen posts where people didn't cut it - their bumpers fit, just have a small visible portion of the support.

POST 7Original post

As newport sid the TT front bumper will not fit untill you trim the alum bumper . Around 2" per side will fix your problem

POST 8Original post

No need to cut the alum bumper support. The grille insert has a section that needs to be removed in order to clean the alum bar.

POST 9Original post

Mine fit fine...the bodyshop sprayed the bumper support black before putting on the bumper.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, during the test fit, I just removed the grills so there was nothing hitting the bumper support. For some reason, it just doesn't look right around the headlights and where the bumper meets the hood.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, figured it out. Sort of a dumb move on my part, but, maybe this will help someone else in the future. The top of the bumper slides into a little channel (by the hood release) and then 2 screws hold that part in. I didn't realize it went IN the channel (not noticed when removing the stock bumper). I had installed it with the top tabs above the channel which was creating the poor fitment. Anyway, it fits well now - - off to the body shop to get it painted.

POST 12Original post

Question I have. When you replace a standard bumper with the TT bumper do you also have to replace the air ducts/deflectors or can you use the existing ones? If you need them, how much would they cost? Cheers

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm keeping the stock ones...the bumper fits fine with them in place.
