Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I believe that the 996 Mk 2 came out in Europe in 2001 (it was the '02 model in the US).
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Suggestion
Don't think there are any differences between 2000 and 2001, there were some differences between early 1999 and 2000 models, then again in 2002 with the changes Ray posted above.
Leading evidence: ''02 model in the us)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is ''02 model in the us)' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace ray posted above' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hi guys,
Got a 993 at mom ... might go far a 996 if I foind the right one.
I have no experience in the 996 cars at all so I have got a question :
Are there any differences between 2000 and 2001 models pls ?
If yes which one is a better buy?
Thanks,
WSP993
I believe that the 996 Mk 2 came out in Europe in 2001 (it was the '02 model in the US).
If so then the newer car got
- Variocam plus (varies timing PLUS lift)
- Larger motor (3.4l to 3.6l w/20 more hp and more torque)
- revised aerodynamics (20% less front lift & 40% less rear lift)
- Better fuel economy
- revised interior
- revised chassis (20% stiffer)
- improved oiling
According to Porsche the new car gained about 55 lbs over the outgoing model, but it is 0.2 secs faster 0-100 kph and has a higher top speed.
The easiest way (externally) to tell the cars apart is the headlights (later cars are more rounded).
Good luck!

For those reasons I tend to tell people to look for a 2002 or newer model as your budget allows.
And as always, get the newest Porsche you can afford!
Good luck,
Rob
Hi guys , thanks for your help.
The early 996's had some engine problems. I see quiet a few early models for sale with (under warranty) new engines.
When did Porsche looked into it to avoid these problems. I.e. Do I risk to have the same problem if I buy a '00 or '01
Thanks
I for one owned a 99, it was a good car, but when i moved up to the 04 WOW it was night and day. I too always suggest buy the newest you can afford. All 911 have their own issues , some like the RMS and other like the dreaded Clogged valve problem.Good luck and let us know!
There's a few differences between North American MY00 and MY01 cars, not sure about RoW. MY01 have electric switches to open the bonnet and engine compartment vs. latches, they also have interior "mood" lighting - a few other little things. All years have RMS issues even the 997, I've seen more MY02s with RMS issues then any other year.
