Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dear Friends: When operating the windshield washer on my 2000 996 , I can hear the pump working and see some water dribbling out from underneath my car...but no water comes out of the jets. This must mean that a hose has disconnected itself. This was the easy part of the mystery. Now the Question: WHERE is the reservoir ? HOW do I trace it and find that loose hose ? I spent a good hour ripping the mats and fiber mouldings out of my boot...only not to find the reservoir. Can anyone give me some hints. Thank You. POST 2Original post

The tank is in the drivers side front wheel well. Chances are you have a cracked tank, loose line, or a bad pump. They are all there once you remove the tire and wheel well liner. If you have to replace the tank be sure and tell the parts guy whether you have a 7 liter tank (windshield and headlight washers) or a 3 liter tank (just windshield washers).

POST 3Original post

I have the same problem LOL. I said screw it. But now I will take it apart and look. You can hear the pump working but nothing. Weird part is the headlight washers still squirt.

POST 4Original post

There are two pumps if you have headlights and windshield washers.

POST 5Original post

THE HOSE THAT GOES THROUGH THE BULKHEAD AT THE DRIVERSSIDE OF THE BODY TUB SOMETIMES COMES LOOSE UNDER THE FENDER LINER.ALSO CHECK THE TEE FITTING AT THE FIREWALL(UNDER THE BATTERY COVER).I HOPE THIS HELPS.
