Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi fellas, after reading that post about engine blown twice this morning it kinda scares me a little bit, after nearly 30,000 miles without warranty, I can't afford not to have any warranty even though the car only had RMS done through the Porsche dealership after pulling its previous record, however I still don't feel comfortable especially when i want to take it to the top speed, maybe I am being a little too paranoid, but something tells me this morning its time to do it. Warranty through Certified car care back up by Mercury (my previous car insurance provider) 5 years / 60,000 miles BUMPER TO BUMPER full coverage. $2560.00 20% down and 10 payments with 0 interests and $0 dedutible. I thought it was a OK deal, dealership ask to pay over $3600 in 1 payment w/ same coverage and only for 4yr/50,000 miles. What do you guys think?

POST 2Original post

Do you know anyone that has filed successfully with them?

POST 3Original post

Hi MZ, I'm just as paranoid as you...and am facing the same dilemna about the warranty. That's why I posted my thread earlier today to track those of us still on our original engines. Trying to guage whether we are more the 'exception' or the 'norm'.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

no but they have been in business over 9 years with BBB w only 1 complaints, that should be good enough for me. Plus it is back up by Mercury, I was pretty happy with them.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

its really just a peace of mind, I'll probrably pay if off within 2 years and have fun with the car without worrying about anything. It helps with resale value too...I think.

POST 6Original post

only if they still around...my Pcar extended warranty went out of business this year. 3k down to the drain... all extended warranty company I used sucks. my BMW went in for new alternator and they only willing paid $65/hr on labor. where you can find the shop that charge less than $90 theses day? bloody BMW dealer charge $160/hr and I have to pay the different... you really need read those fine line... If I ever gonna buy extended warranty, it has to be through dealer...

POST 7Original post

Second that. We probably had the same company (1SourceAuto). If I had just put the $3k in the bank I would have been better off.

POST 8Original post

$2500 is 1/4 of an engine and 1/2 of a transmission. If your $2500 is in the bank it's most likely not going to be gone when you need it. Provided you didn't use it for new headers, mufflers and a flash

POST 9Original post

Self-insurance in the form of money socked away in the bank against unforseen problems sounds like the way to go. And if they'll give a you a free toaster when you open the account, so much the better. It sounds like $3k is the best guess.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

so you guys are saying I should put the money in the bank instead, I have 30 days money back in case....

POST 12Original post

I'm very skeptical of third party extended warranties... just take that for what it's worth.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

HMMM....I'M GONNA CANCEL IT TOMORROW MORNING,,,,,YOU GUYS MAKE ME FEEL NERVOUS

POST 14Original post

Is there a limit in how much they pay per claim..? I got a quote from an extended warranty company, but they limit coverage to $3k per claim, which seems to me low..

POST 15Original post

we are not telling you what to do but share our own experience and opinion. If I am in your shoes and gotta have warranty, I will not save the 1k go with 3rd parties extended warranty.

POST 16Original post

Why dont you jsut have the dealer certify your car? since it's still in the warranty period? CPO=6yr/100k mile warranty..

POST 17Original post

How is this done (dealer certify process)? Does anyone have an idea how much this costs?

POST 18Original post

Usually it's $1400, but if youre due on your 30K or 60K maintnance, they wont do it if you dont get it done...
