Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I will try and find the pic, I guy i know used Si tubing with a cone filter, it sounded great, not sure if it improved air intake...Ill look for the pic..

Leading evidence: 'Use si tubing' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use si tubing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone attempted to make their own cold air intake, such as the Fabspeed or Schnell design? I am curious, I found a website that sells 4 ply silicone hose fairly inexpensive. Not sure if it would work. Does anybody know the dimensions for the hose?

POST 2Original post

I saw one a few years ago that somebody had done, but I can't find it any more. I don't know if it's really cost effective considering the price of the Schnell unit.

POST 3Original post

Measure the diameter of the upper and lower existing rubber tube (the large portion; different sizes at top and bottom) and buy Si tubing to match. Needs to be thick walled so it does not collapse. I bought the Schnell for $89 and probably paid $80 too much! Sound is a little better though, epecially at higher RPM. Schnell unit does not allow removal of Helmholtz chamber (i.e., intake muffler), but does come with a cap for the chamber intake.

POST 6Original post

Hey Nupe I dont think it does, its more of a sound increase, I have yet to talk to anyone that claims it gives real HP, maybe 5 HP in the mind tho,

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found some 2 or 3inch 4 ply silicone tubing for about $25. It is with a 45 degree angle and 4 inches of tubing on each size. Might work. Golden, I look forward to what you find. Thanks!

POST 8Original post

If it's a Helmholtz resonator is it's function to make the intake quieter or to improve engine performance at certain rpms. If it's the later, all of us with Orange Caps are going to look kinda silly. Maybe it does both. Any physicists out there?
