Now that i've driven with it for a week, i've noticed some play front to back and i think the set screw could use some tightening.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 1 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, Installed my SSK 2 weekends ago (with some helpful instructions posted on renntech). I think i might have set a record for coldest driveway install (it was about 12 degrees). Everything went smoothly except for a broken clip on the plastic piece covering the parking brake. Now that i've driven with it for a week, i've noticed some play front to back and i think the set screw could use some tightening. Does anyone know if it's accessible without removing the entire console again? Thanks in advance, Bryan

POST 2Original post

No you need to remove the console....I had the same issue. It can be out in 10-15 mins , once you do it a few times

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm just not looking forward to removing that parking brake cover again. I really, really don't like those plastic clips - but i guess i don't have a choice. I'll really clamp it down this time around.

POST 4Original post

those clips, if the same ones i am thinking of are metal, that slip into the plastic spots, I have had one pop off during the re install of mine..maybe that's it?

POST 5Original post

Pop the shifter boot off and see if you can get an allen wrench in there. That's one thing I always do, notch a little plastic out of the way with a Dremmel tool, makes adjustments a breeze.

POST 6Original post

You can loosen the lock nut and adjust the set screw just by lifing up on the shift boot so you can get to it. But you cannot turn the set scew from the end with an allen wrench due to the lack of clearance.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, i'll try that out. The "clips" i'm referring to are the plastic on my car - but they are (were) moulded parts of painted plastic cover that goes over the parking brake. There are four in total that hold the cover on. I snapped two of them off. I'll have to replace the cover eventually. The dremel idea is perfect. It will make subsequent adjustments a breeze. On another note, I'm off to see the cayman for the first time in about 30 mins!
