Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just ordered a replacement for the stock stereo. Crutchfield says I will have to run a wire to the fuse box so it comes on and goes off with the ignition. Anyone have any experience with that? If I don't run that wire will it just not go off unless I turn off the power switch to the radio or will it not work at all? Sorry if this has been discussed to death, I searched but couldn't find this issue.

POST 2Original post

I tapped into the telephone prep connector wiring for mine as was suggested by many others...you should find a plug in the bottom of your console.. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...ery-connector/

POST 5Original post

When I ordered my new head unit from Crutchfield they sent me the harness. It was plug and play for my 2000. I didn't have to wire anything into the fuse box.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's what I was expecting but the guy on the phone went out of his way to point this issue out. Guess I will find out when it comes. It will either work or it won't.

POST 7Original post

I have a 1999 as well. Your current deck already has switched power going to it (otherwise, how would it be powering up?). Crutchfield should be providing the proper harnesses for it, in which case it is as simple as matching wire to appropriate wire. For reference, I installed this unit here .

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update - other than yellow connects to red and vice versa per the instructions, plug and play. Don't know wtf crutchfield guy was talking about.

What radio did you get? Did you remember to do something about the little switch that causes the alarm to beep if the radio is removed?
