Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
So my tip is - use a really really long extension with a wobble socket to get the ones you can, there is 1 that you have to get a shorty on, pass side top front (mabey same on drivers side - forget) but the long extension saves a bunch of arm cramps

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm a looking and I'm a liking!
I am so glad my birthday is coming up.
They look incredible.
Fabspeed said they will fit the stock mufflers. will the fit the stock PSE exhaust as well?
unless the clamp is pointing in some wierd angle - when you remove your cans flip the bolts on the mount (long ones) and also be sure the clamps are all lined up, look nice, and are easy to access in the future.
have you pulled your cans out before Marc?

Get the *** up pretty high too, io had to lift it higher once with one can off and it was a biatch
Super simple operation, no fear
Excellent! The tips came with some really nice fabspeed clamps and the ones at the Cat side are new from my recent warranty catalytic converter replacement anyting else I should refresh?
OT - I sort of wish I was facing that job, the new car is giving me a little challenge. I had the jacking of the 996 really figured out. Not so much on the 86' - tried last night and (this is gonna hurt) couldn't get it up
LOL
If I could do it...then you should be able to. The hardest part was the badly rusted bolts and misc. clamps...you will be in a better position with new parts to work with.
Nice Marc.... lets not wait like the short shifter install.
If the tips dont line up the way you want.... you might have to play with the mounting bolts of the mufflers to have more adjustment. Hopefully they'll just line up.
If you want exhaust ****, listen to my car on the main straight. No mufflers, and the fabspeed x-pipe cat-bypass. I don't recommend it for the street!

Mark,
It is much easier if you pull the wheels. You will already have the car up in the air. Also if you have an air ratchet it will make the three muffler mount bolts easier to remove. Start shooting everything with penetrating oil.
If you want to come on over and we can do them together. Offer good as long as you do the dirty part under the car with the rust and dirt falling in your eyes while I get to stand around holding a beverage telling you how easy it is.
Frank,
Wheels are coming off for sure, I may even take you up on that offer, I always enjoy some moral support
I bought all new clamps, screws and nuts! I will hit the old ones with oil this weekend, My cans are probably 10 day away so that should do it
ARRG I did Marc with a "K" again
Anyway Offer is good even if I don't get to hold the beverage. Two or more folks are not necessary but nice when you are lifting the mufflers back into place and starting the nuts.
OUCH! OK Tim K. I deserved that.
roadsession,
You don't have to remove the bumper or maybe not even the mufflers to do the tips.
The hardest part is getting to and removing the tip to muffler clamps.
(See Tim "C." post #25) If the bolt on the clamp is aligned so that you can take the nut off and you have an external lock ring pliers that fits in the cramped space that will spread the clamp enough to remove the tip removal wont be impossible.
Then all you have to do is get the new tip into the clamp and put the bolt back in get the nut on it and tighten it up. If you have at least one thin arm with two elbows and three wrists it will be a piece of cake.
I bet it will take less time and spilled blood to take off the wheels and mufflers.
One thing no one has addressed is the muffler bracket mounting bolts/nuts. The studs are welded to the mounting plate that connects the muffler to the engine support bracket. The bolts are not a high grade hardened steel and can snap off fairly easy if the nuts are rusted on. The 3 nuts are hard to access with penetrating oil but make sure you hit them good. If the stud does snap off you can weld in a new bolt. Ask me how I know.

The tips look great Marc, your going to love the way they look on the car. Make sure to post some pictures, were all excited to see it. The tips are a direct replacement for the stock ones, so its very straight forward and simple, and you do not need to remove the bumper with any of our other exhaust products.
Fabspeed will be attending Hershey with a few cars and lots of products in April, so make sure to stop to say hello and check it all out.
Thanks,
Marc, those tips look wonderful!
In Jan you PM'ed me that you wanted my 996 cans for the Fister mod and I have been saving them for you. Did you buy others or a different exhaust? If so, let me know and I will put mine (from my '03) up for sale.
Just changed the oil on the Allroad, those Audi belly pans are a pain in the ***...
Wish I was doing my mufflers
As you can tell I am not patient and a big fan of instant gratification!
