Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

50 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry man. You HAVE to get back to a 996 or newer. You dont fit with the aircooled guys. I had a slantnose about 3 years ago. I had it for a whole 3 months. For one I didnt fit. My feet were way to big for the little peddle area. But in my 3 months I found my slef amoung the most snotty, self centered, Non coopertive, unable to take a joke crowd of self proclaimed car guys. Even though none of them had EVER even got close to the car with a wrench. It all came back to me today, when an 80's MY 911 black with a whale tail, pulled out in front of my 996. He had the big 80's tear drop mirrored sun glasses, He was looking in the mirror at his hair and combing it, he was finger brushing his teeth in the rear view. I stay behind him for a few lights trying to catch a wave... No go.... So I pulled up beside him looked over and gave him a wave. He looked at me like I was a disease and wouldnt wave. So he pulls out and hits it.... So I hit it also, flew by him and gave him the bird. We were then on the hiway. So I continued to show him who was in the Porsche and who was in the VW. Ed, The car isnt you, the crowd isnt you.... Sorry but you are going to have to get back into a real Porsche. this thread is meant in fun, the events of the day are real with the encouter. If you cant take a joke, move on and go back to worring about tomorrow.

POST 3Original post

tell us how you really feel oh, and Hoff, you need to change your avatar. and your name. again...

Quote: Ed, The car isnt you, the crowd isnt you.... Sorry but you are going to have to get back into a real Porsche. Are you trying to say the 996 is a REAL Porsche? This is gonna be fun...

POST 6Original post

So who's gonna have the ***** to drop this little thread into the 993 or 911 forums? I have no time for close-minded tools who say the 911 died when it went water-cooled. Fax machines were great too!

POST 7Original post

He's bought 2 of the 3 cars the guy owns. Next the race looking car will be in his garage.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 7431589

But it is better than the 'guy with the money'. My favorite are cars or women. Should be a rule, but I don't like rules.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7431589

I dunno, Kinda like "The Hoff" sadly "Shark Attack" didnt fit anymore becasue of me getting rid of the 928. And the 996 doesnt really have any good catchy nicknames that can be played on. So what do you suggest?

POST 10Original post

I will post pics later - right now I am eating lunch with 100 other p-car owners - and on the "spirited drive" I was singled out and took one for the team from a nice guy on a motorcycle with pretty lights!

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 7431940

DOH!!! That sounds like my kind of luck!

POST 13Original post

Kyle, I love your outlook and philosophy regarding many things. It often mirrors my own. F 'em if they can't take a joke... anyway, just curious, why the Hoff screen name and David Hasselhoff avatar?

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 7431940

Yah same thing I was talking about with the bright red sports car being their first choice.

POST 15Original post

Here is the history Nick.......its a good read! https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ew-wheels.html

aw man! bagged! "Hoff" does need a name change, but what do I know, Im just a snobby jerk aircooled Porsche owner

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 7432097

An air cooled jerk? You must know my friend Ed Ivangene the great nanook of the north west.

POST 18Original post

Nice meet - big turn out ! forgot to ask my "friend" on his motorcycle for a photo op... How the hell can 20 p-cars roll past and a guy in the middle get popped? never had a ticket in the 996

POST 19Original post

Like a bass does. It strikes the flashiest bait. Get one of the tazers and your problem with those bass in uniform will be over.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 7432139

He's the worst if the bunch

POST 21Original post

Little did he know the policeman is the son of the same policeman that gave his new car its first ticket. I hear there is another family member about to graduate from the police academy. Better be upgraded by then. Actually........lol......you should of gone ripping past the rest of the cruise members with your friendly policeman in hot pursuit. Maybe plan something like that where in the event of unfriendlys entering your ranks you give way to the porsche and pull back in line after he passes. Then all the cruise or club members pay for the ticket if you get caught. Oh well, I'll go report to the internet jail now. It would be nice if there was video from behind you for youtube since it seems like the ticket could of been anbody but they picked you. Good luck in court if you elect to do it that way.

POST 22Original post

Nice photos Ed. I guess you never heard that the res Porsche is always the one to get the ticket.

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 7432128

It's the color...... Ask me how I know!!

POST 24Original post

Porsche fun runs should always have a police escort, preferably doing about 120mph in the lead with the lights going. so... ah... how fast were you going, and what was the speed limit? I dread the fine I'd get for doing 100 in a 45 zone.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow Ed, sounds like you had a great day. I wish I could get that many together around here. I'm jelous. Hows the new car running for you?

POST 26Original post

I wasn't speeding - must have been some other car

its the color

POST 29Original post

Come on back to the other side ... the dark side ... the Air Cooled side ...

POST 30Original post

The obvious answer is to go both ways, no not that! I'm talking Aircooled and watercooled 911's!

POST 31Original post

ok, i dunno but maybe this:

POST 33Original post

nice pics Ed, I learned, to stay towards the front of the group.... the back of the pack are usually the ones to take the hit.

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 7432128

Two words: guards red

POST 35Original post

yea, I was the first red car, about 5-6 cars off the lead in a 15 car group, with a huge neon arrow pointing at the car saying "stop this one"

POST 36Original post

I'm sure the yellow GT2 wing bolted to the back of your car didn't help any either!

POST 37Original post

BAHAHAHAHHAAAA no, it didnt! So I went to see the 996 this afternoon and man, is it pretty ! Took up my stock seats and the front plate, a couple small pieces. Was in heavy traffic today in the 86 and really missed it too. times change and this is where I am right now... PM sent Tim

POST 38Original post

Sorry to hear you got pop'd Ed. You guys all drove right by my hood as I happened to be stuck next a bunch of you guys (primarily the white 928S4, red 944Turbo, 2 other C4S) off 202 in traffic. I was in my 330cic but still said hi to some of your friends!

POST 39Original post

Ed I've got it figured out. Traffic cops are like little girls. I was buying groceries and this little blonde girl waving a toothbrush running up to her parents saying I got a rad one made me think of your ticket. Yep besides being like little girls they are even like blondes Yah the cop returned to his station waving his ticket book saying, "I got a red one!"

POST 40Original post

I must be lucky. I've never been stopped on any runs in either my red 996 or my black 911. I did get popped solo a couple of years ago, however.

POST 41Original post

Quotes source post: 7432992

Herb, check the pics... I was behind the White 928 (the only one there - and in front of the 944) I wasnt there when they past your place because of my "delay"

POST 42Original post

July 4th. That's my prediction - Ed will have this aircooled non-sense out of his system by July 4th.

POST 44Original post

boo that really blows Ed! I would've been right next to ya! There was that red 944 T, and he was pretty aggressive on throttle every time we inched a little in traffic. hope ur lawyer gets it taken care of!

POST 45Original post

I went to law school with a couple local police officers and they admitted one night while we were practicing our bits for moot court that they get bored and will make a declaration to one another to see who can ticket the most cars of a particular color in a shift. Must have been red day huh?

POST 46Original post

Maybe the cop figured yours was the only one worth seeing up close.

POST 47Original post

So Ed, how fast were you going...in the red...air-cooled...PORSCHE when you got busted?

POST 49Original post

So, lets see...996s are 4-6 mph slower than indicated speed, air-cooled must be 20-30 mph over indicated speed...74 mph in a 35 mph zone??
