Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked my gauges to make sure the oil pressure and water temperature were still okay.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I was driving back from an awesome day of driving in the Smokey Mountains with a couple of guys from the 993 board. That DE I participated in REALLY helped me on those mountain roads. Anyway...
On my drive back I was keeping up a good pace with a BMW 540i and a Lexus Sedan. About 15 minutes from home the Lexus hits a retread tire piece and kicks it up my way. I try to avoid it but I couldn't do much about it so I went "over" it.
I heard a thud and looked in my rearview mirror expecting to see it flying behind me. I saw nothing. I checked my gauges to make sure the oil pressure and water temperature were still okay. Everything seemed normal so I just kept on heading home.
I enter my garage this morning and look below at what I find!!! I guess I'm lucky it didn't tear apart the radiator but what are the chances of it just entering that little inlet? So that's my story for the day
It might be a bit upset about the 600 mile drive I put it through yesterday with high RPM shifts, late corner braking, and one twisty after another. So to have a bit of an upset stomach is understandable.
...now to get all those bugs off the front of my car!
Oh and for those wondering, here is a photo from one of the photographers on our route capturing our fun (temperatures were in the 60s at "base" level but at the top of the mountain there was still snow on the ground which is why the top stayed up this time):
You're lucky. Driving my lapis blue (hmm maybe there's a connection?) 02 Boxster oh about 5 or so years ago and hit a Detroit alligator (tire carcass) on 50 highway 8 or so miles west of Strong City KS (wide spot in the road...) and tire carcass took out driver's side radiator. 70+ mile tow into Wichita KS to nearest Porsche dealer.
Sincerely,
Macster.
Car looks great on the move.....my friend hit a retread (abit bigger than yours) at 80 in his Honda Civic....cracked front bumper, ripped out rear fender lined and smashed in his rear qtr before finally ripping his rear bumper off..youch.
When I first saw it I was also thinking how lucky I was. Before leaving this morning I checked again to make sure there were no leaks and thankfully there weren't.
Thanks - those photographers on the mountain roads always seem to capture great images. I'm not sure how much of a living they are making off these pics but they seem to have a great job!
Damn! I hit one on my 944 years ago and lost a little rubber cap that covered the tow loop thread. But I've been SO fortunate in these situations.
Hey it kept running!
(although without a bumper!)
