Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am looking to purchase a 996. I live in Chicago and it will be the daily driver. The question I have is for driving in the winter/snow. Initially I was looking for a C4 but with the winter tires on a C2 (they'd be on a C4 too obviously) does it make that much of a difference?

I'm not too far from Chicago in Fort Wayne, Indiana and I chose to go with a C4S with snow tires for the winter. I think it's the best combination for winter. It also has PSM, which I like. That being said, I think a C2 with winter tires will do fine in everything except deep snow. Just stay home on those days...
What year 996 are you considering?
I don't think the front drive torque of a 996 is enough to make a real difference in snow or ice. The TRAC function of PSM activates too quickly for the VC to be anything other than flaccid.
I drove my C2 in 6 inches of snow last year and had a blast!! I drove it more days than the suburban and it handled better than a 4x4 IMO - I had Blizzak tires on -
clearance was an issue at times, but c4 or c2 have the same issues there, braking on hills was better on the P-car than the suburban and aside from the road grime (same for C4or C2) I would recommend it !!
i have a C4 and live in michigan. i use winter wheels and tires and i've found no issues driving last winter, which was pretty snowy and cold. from reading various threads, i don't think a C2 would be much more difficult to drive with the appropriate shoes.
Hi - Question for Ivangene - What alloys are they in your profile pic? Absolutely adore them.
Sorry for the post hijack, but can't see where to PM someone.
