This is not a probability of success.

Now I'm just a novice so I won't be hitting supersonic warp speeds but I know we have to have the windows down while running around the track.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know this is a sort of a strange question but I was wondering, do high speeds with the windows down damage or weaken the top at all? The reason I ask is because in two weeks I will be participating in a DE. Now I'm just a novice so I won't be hitting supersonic warp speeds but I know we have to have the windows down while running around the track. So I'm wondering, does this do anything to the integrity of the top? Seems like a lot of pressure coming in from all directions so I'm just curious what the effects are.

POST 4Original post

Just buy 5 rolls of duct tape and wrap the tape over the top, down the side, then under the car, up the other side, and then back over the top. Repeat this process until all 5 rolls are gone. Just make sure you don't tape the driver's door shut! Sorry, I couldn't resist!

POST 5Original post

to tell you the truth, I've never been worried about the top handling the air coming in through the lowered windows at high speeds, BUT, i have glanced many times at the plastic rear window under those circumstances and have had some concern that the glue/stitching had some limit to what it could take!! POST 6Original post

the trick is to drive fast enough so that the exterior pressure is higher than the interior pressure.... just let your instructor know what you are trying to achieve.
