I have seen spacer collars for the 996 front of that go on the shock on top of the upright to create a higher "baseline" height, then adjust from there w/ ride height/spring preload.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have installed KW V3's on my 2000 Carrera 4. I am having a problem where I have the threaded shock bodies maxed out as high as the recommended specs allow, but the front is still too low. The fender to wheel center measurement is below the minimum recommended. Can any one with a similar set up help me figure out what is wrong with my set up?
I have seen spacer collars for the 996 front of that go on the shock on top of the upright to create a higher "baseline" height, then adjust from there w/ ride height/spring preload. Not specifically for KW but universal. I know Feal suspension includes them w/ their fronts for optional use.
Can you slide the shock higher in the upright (pinch bolt loosened), or does it have a welded stop?
I have... They haven't offered a solution yet. I got the unsprung spring height from them to make sure my springs are the length they are supposed to be. I'll check that when I get off work. I have looked at tons of pics and diagrams and can't find any parts that I am missing. I just can't understand why my ride height is so much lower than KW says it should be
While KW apparently analyzes the pictures I sent of my suspension very carefully, I asked them what the unsprung spring height for the fronts should be. They said 215mm. I measure mine at 195mm. That amount of difference could definitely be the cause of my issue. I am not sure why my springs are shorter than they should be. They appear to have the correct part numbers. I really hope this is the problem. I am ready to have my car back and enjoy my recent upgrades.
Does your car drive badly at that height? It looks to be a reasonable drop and not slammed from the pics. I have coilovers as well, and besides getting the handling benefits, getting rid of the 4x4 SUV stock ride height was the major reason I got them. I wouldn't want my car to be higher than what you show in the pics with aftermarket suspension.
The problem is, at this height, the dampers are operating outside of their designed range. I don't know how bad it is for them but KW has recommended specs for a reason. I imagine its not good for the dampers to leave them like this. It seems the springs have sagged. If they are tired enough to be 20mm short unsprung than they are supposed to be, I think its reasonable to replace them. New springs will be here from Germany in 2 to 3 weeks. Hopefully I can enjoy my car again soon.
Can you provide the specs they gave you for the free spring length? I am having the same issue.
Currently, I have the "remaining thread measurement A" at 55mm (15mm above the recommended maximum!) and the "wheel hub center to wheel arch B" measurement is only 325mm.
I have measured my front springs and they have a free length of 240mm. Below is the response from KW...not much help.

USING THE DAMPERS OUSIDE OF THE RECOMMENDED RIDE HEIGHTS WILL BLOW THE DAMPERS OUT. I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING A SPACER TO HELP FIX THE ISSUE."
Thanks,
Jay
I bought the spacers, I had to email KW because they're only available on their euro website so they made me a custom order. Will be installing next month.
Thanks for the quick reply! What size spacers did you buy? I'm about to install V3s on my Turbo and do not want the front extra low.
EDIT:
When search for parts available for the 996 turbo on the KW USA site, I come up with multiple spacer options. The 30mm seems like it makes the most sense.

I’m looking at KW V1s for my new to me 2003 C4S. Why in the world would one buy coilovers at this price point, with model specific spec and then be expected to buy additional parts? Will talk to my buddy who’s an authorized dealer to see if this is still an issue. Are the posts from 2023 ref 2020 bought units? Hoping this has been resolved by KW. Very un-KW/German of them to not identify parts needed by model….
Pls Advise and Thanks!
Hi there,
I will continue with this issue and need some advise related to this topic.
I have installed a KW V3 coilovers at the car shop in Germany for my 2002 turbo.
After that, Ihave the same issue with the front left shock absorber and the required ride high from 32,5cm as mentioned in the manual.
I have 40mm remaining thread length as cccampe, exactly the same.
The right side has a remaining lenght 25mm.
Do you get an advice or recent information to challenge this issue?
Thank you very much
I recently got a set of spacers (25mm - 1). I havent installed them yet but Im going to shoot for about a 1/2 - 3/4 increase in front Im just tired of scraping my bumperand having to repair it.
Beautiful C4S! Maximum color contrast and appearance. I would have left the pumpkins orange for further contrast. White is rare, one of my favorites, hard to find. The only other color I like more is Ice Green Metallic.
cheers.
YMMV
