Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Installed alum gauge faces today--only took an hour after I figured out how the electrical connections worked. GREAT MOD

POST 2Original post

Whaaaat, no PICs?!???? We need PICs!!!! Don't just tell us, SHOW us!!!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here they are. Pics suck but the inside of the car looks great 1 Before 2 After 3 Well' you can see it.

POST 4Original post

I did the same on mine. I agree, great mod. How do you post a pic?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When you post click "go advanced" Click "Manage Attachments" Click" Browse" and locate your pics on your computer Click "Upload"

POST 7Original post

Jeff - Thanks for posting the PICs! The gages look GREAT! I have silver faced gages in my '04 996. Fortunately for me the first owner ordered the car that way.

POST 8Original post

Very nice! Which ones did you install? Thanks, Graeme

POST 9Original post

IMO I prefer the factory black but I agree it looks great w/your silver interior.. I've just got full black leather on a triple black 996 C2 and I look like batman LOL

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got them from Brandywine. They are supposed to be from a OEM supplier for Porsche but I doubt it b/c I bevieve that they would say VDO on them and they don't. It's ok b/c they look great.

POST 12Original post

put the aluminium rings around them as well. i thought it would be too much, but i found the rings really added to the faces and the overall look.

POST 13Original post

Those are nice guys! Anyone has pictures of gages with the black faces but with the Aluminum rings? Thanks.

POST 15Original post

Are the numbers and needles lit against a now-dark aluminum background? If so, then I'd think there's an awkward situation in dim light (such as at dusk) when the face is darkening and the markings are lightening, such that you lose contrast and it's hard to read. This is my experience on a VW Passat (dog car). -Jim

POST 16Original post

I do. I just need to remember to take the pictures. My car is in the shop right now, so I will have to wait until later in the week.

POST 17Original post

the way they light them i haven't found any problems at dusk. At night they look great.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought you would like to see the alum faces at night. Sorry it's a little blurry. At this light level it has to be a very long shutter speed.

POST 20Original post

hey mundman, have you verified and caliprate all needed 'cause the oil, bat and gas needles seem a bit low ... all needle should be at zero at on ( without engine running ) besides that, they look sweeeeet , I was going to go white alike you too, but change my mind and went for yellows. Have fun

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's a good point and very observant. The ignition is off as I took these pics. My fuel gauge is a little off but all else is fine. I verified with my handy dandy PDA w/autoenginuity software. Shows me actual rpm, temp, voltage and speed.

POST 23Original post

Hey Guys, Where can I get the aluminum rings? We just traded an 05 boxster that had the aluminum rings - for an 04 C4S that does not - and I think they look pretty good. Thanks, Kirk

POST 24Original post

The guages look awsome! What's a fair price for these? I've seen them advertised anywhere between $180 to close to $300...

POST 25Original post

Bought mine from brandywine for 110.00 - came in a very generic looking cheap package, but the rings seemed ok. In this may's Excellence mag ads: suncoast lists for 149.00 and NR auto (nrauto.com) shows them for 99.00

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Brandywine list on Ebay for $219 but ads them in Excellence for $199
