Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run h&r' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace dampers' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

springs went in the trash after the first test drive.

If your looking for used springs make sure you know what your getting.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would like to drop my 996 about an inch (or more) and wanted to know if anyone had a set of aftermarket springs laying around collecting dust?
H&R, Cargraphics, Techart etc...
I have run H&R on my personal car. Great combo and great handling. We have them at a good deal too..

Do the ROW M030 kit. Factory parts, factory settings, no warranty issues, lowers the front by a bit more than an inch the rear about three quarters. Ride improves and turn in is enhanced. Just my two cents (say what ever happened to that cent sign on the keyboard?)
Or, you could order RoW M030 spring sets for $86 for rear and the same price for the fronts to avoid progressive springs and save cash and your warranty.
aben, I did the H&R springs without changing the dampers. The ride is not as harsh as before so it is better as a daily driver. I have done AutoX and a DE event and the car has handeled well.....I would do it again in a heartbeat....
Nothing more to write then what Big6Dad wrote. Better handling, not to harsh, and great ride. Here is a picture
This is an old photo before all the cool guy mods.
There is an article on PCA.org about M030 vs stock. The US version and ROW are the same rate 170 front and 260 rear. The stock is 146 and 203. The main difference btw US sport and ROW is the shocks has different dapening rate and the ROW sits 10-20MM lower.
Yup, 170/260; however, adding the X74 spec Bilstein Sports which are valved 40% tighter than stock add real world spring rate. The benefit with a linear wind is that you get the same spring rate throughout travel vs. a progressive spring which gives a range with variance side to side and front to back. When one hits those tighter coils on compression, the transition can be unsettling. The GT3 Cup car uses linear springs all around like all stock 996/986s including turbos. The GT3 street and X74 uses progressive coils in the back if I am not mistaken. In general, linear is more predictable. Kind of like jumping. Rounds get you down, and squares get you there. A round parachute is reliable, while a square parachute has more ability with a higher tendency to crumble on you.
Yes, they are not progressive (like H&Rs), but linear. They are cheaper and preserve the factory warranty. My standard U.S. springs went in the trash after the first test drive.
If your looking for used springs make sure you know what your getting. Most companies offer sport and race springs. A customer freind thought he was getting sport springs and ended up with race springs which lowered his car more then he wanted. Unfortunately this wasn't realized until the labor was paid and completed. Just a simple heads up. Let me know if you would like to order a new set.
