Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

rather, i used the negative of the decals as a stencil to spray the porsche logo on.

Not on the car yet, I test fitted them but need to drop the suspension a bit.

I preferred to remove the brake pads for a more uniform covered coat, (dmgcfg, removing the pads are easy) and masked the wheel well, rotors, covered the car in case of overspray and protected the brake sensor connection using a finger form a rubber glove.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ahh yes, the holiday,
It is meant to spend it with family, bbq's, drink some beers...blah blah blah.
I instead found time to sneak into the garage and start a minuscule project....painting my calipers. Idealy I would like to powder coat them but hey, lets give it a try at it first.
So, Saturday morning started with removing the brake pads and prepping the calipers. This was done by spraying the calipers with brake cleaner solution, sanding the surface and taping the necessary sections.
I applied 6 coats of red plastic-coat caliper paint (pep boys), carefully postioned decals and shot 4 coats of high temperature clear coat.

Tim,
Not on the car yet, I test fitted them but need to drop the suspension a bit. Thinking of going to PSS9's or H&R springs. As far as the calipers, yes I went from black to red just for visual stimulation.
I didn't see the pic of the wheels initially. Nice looking! That will be a GREAT combo! You simply HAVE to post pics of the whole package, or we'll hound you mercilessly (say that one 3 times fast)!
Alex,
You are here too, good. Cals look great. How did you tape off the "Porsche" and how long did this project take? Super wheels as well, are they HRE?
No Reus yet but soon, I'll give you a heads up by phone when I know the install date if you are still interested. Anyone else too. I an in NJ outside Philly.
That paint is great! I have painted 3 sets of my calipers (Boxster and current 996) and the stuff lasts forever. To this day it looks great and no one can tell that it is not powder coat! Look at the money we both saved. Simply smart spend the money elsewhere! Looks great.

Alex what wheels are those? If I may ask where to buy them? Also I did not use the clear coat because the paint is already epoxy based and dries with a clear coated shine. The caliper decals are holding up fine as well. Thanks in advance for the make and source of those wheels.
Regards,
Ben
I've never screwed around with brakes. How tough is it to get the pads out (and back in) etc.? Looks like you removed the rotors too or are they under the newspaper? How long did the job take start to finish? Did you have the car "up in the air" so you could do all 4 wheels at once? 2 at a time? Any other issues, insights? Sorry for all the questions but thanks in advance for the scoop.

Yes I am here too, actually just became a member on Rennlist and waiting for Shank to get my stars on 6speed. Porschas are addictive and when the mod bug kicks in...fogetaboutit..I try to soak up as much knowledge as possible. Let me know when the Reus install is, I am still interested.
I was hesitant at first when performing this mod, but if you have patience and care about quality, then it is an easy mod. I preferred to remove the brake pads for a more uniform covered coat, (dmgcfg, removing the pads are easy) and masked the wheel well, rotors, covered the car in case of overspray and protected the brake sensor connection using a finger form a rubber glove.
The rears are completed and I will start the fronts today with the same protocol.
wow, nice job! my painted calipers have held up well. close to 2 years and a track day and still look shiny. i didn't use the clear coat over the decals. rather, i used the negative of the decals as a stencil to spray the porsche logo on.
Tim...just an FYI there is no C2S in the 996.
My opinion on the brakes (colors) are 986 Black, 986S and any 996 red, yellow ONLY on PCCB optioned cars.
Not a big fan of the silver calipers on the C4. By the way, the reds on the 986S are nothing more than larger brakes on the 996 painted red and applied to the 986S.
But as most of the mods and options we choose on this board....everybody has their own opinion.....
Just my $.02
