I changed the battery on the key and checked all my fuses under the steering wheel.
Leading evidence: 'Check fuses' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'same as new key fobs and programming' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuses' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Costs probably the same as new key fobs and programming so why not

There is a chance that a transistor gate is failing causing the drain but there is no way to get a value or type to replace things one by one till getting the right fix.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried it with my flakey fob and it worked perfectly after that.
Hi,
My Keyless entry just stopped working this weekend. I changed the battery on the key and checked all my fuses under the steering wheel. Is there something that I missed to check? Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I dont want to go to the dealer, pay 100s of $$$ have them tell me that it was something that I could have done.
Thanks!!
Maybe the transmitter in the key. I have two keys, one works perfectly, the other quit working, tried new battery, but still no good. If you have two keys try the other one.
Check renntech to find the correct procedures to 'restart' a key fob. It requires putting the battery back in with the polarity reversed for a few seconds before re-inserting properly.

Had the same problem...tried everything and ended up buying 2 new keys....because the car came with only 1 keyfob when I bought it....reprograming 1 keyfob $125...but the it wasn't programmeble any longer( I was told by the dealer!)...so $450 bucks later....everything working again
I would find another dealer. There must be many out there in SoCal.
Here in Atlanta, programming TWO keys cost me $49. They did it in 10 minutes while I had a cup of coffee.
Also, the key heads and shafts are available for a lot less than you apparently paid:
Cut key shaft, ordered by VIN from Sunset: $80.
Brand new remote key head on Ebay: $50.
Valet key head ordered from Sunset: $22.
Same sh^t happened to me a couple of weeks ago - both keys died at the same time - Strange - anyway the dealership swapped them out for new ones, no Cost ! Love It.....
Same thing happened to me just yesterday. Hadn't driven the car all week. Came home, went to get in and keyless entry wouldn't work. Tried walking all around the car while pushing - nothing happened. Unlocked manually, went out for ride and grabbed a bite to eat, then it worked just fine. Will it go into sleep mode if alarm is on all week with no use?
Something must be in the water. Same deal. Away for a week, tried to unlock with keyless and got nothing. Unlocked manually, and the keyless entry seems to be working ever since.
From my understanding the car goes into sleep mode when it does not have any activity for over a week. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, just unlock manually and start her up. Then the fob works.
Out of town for 10 days and the remote stopped working. I drove around for a few days and it still wouldn't work.
I had to unlock manually, put the key in ignition, press the button. Not it's back to normal. Thanks guys!
Welcome to the club.
Here;s a quick DIY.
1. Take key in hand
2. Position key so that plastic is gripped and metal section is pointed away from body
3. Carefully manuever metal stick end towards just below door handle on drivers side. (Don't bother looking on passenger side)
4. Focus eyes on side of door looking for metal piece with spring loaded flap covering a slot a little wider than metal end of the fob.
5. Press metal end onto and past spring loaded flap so that the metal enters as far as it can inward on the door. (Be carefull not to smudge wax job with knuckles)
6. Turn key clockwise to lock the door. Turn twice rapidly to disarm the alarm with the doors locked.
7. Call a tow truck and get your car to the dealership so they can install a new alarm system with brand new keys.

I notice the battery on one of my fobs doesn't last over a week. I also noticed the internals are clipped in and if sagging a few small layers of tape on the top of the battery help the fob operate better. I'm also wondering if one of the resistors lowers in value over time in age and allows power to drain out of the battery while the battery just sits in the fob.
During any of my online searching have I never found a schematic for the fob. I don't thing its fair. There is a chance that a transistor gate is failing causing the drain but there is no way to get a value or type to replace things one by one till getting the right fix. With the way everything is made in china these days I wouldn't doubt its just the batterys that aren't worth squat while we all figure our fobs are failing. Mine will work pretty good at first with a new battery then fall on its face coming up in short order. Could just be the quality of batteries. Darned if I know. Sure sucks.
I have seen a do it yourself write up for repositioing the antenna thats in the drivers side windshield pillar. It's supposed to help the car receive the signal of a remote easier. Good luck finding it.
