Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I suspect the Mk1 996 does have a stiffer chassis that the 993, but that doesn't mean that newer technology and more powerful motors in the Mk2 didn't call for even more stiffening of the chassis.
Replace are a bit more subtle (rear fenders/inner fenders, etc)

are clearly visible around the front subframe mounts and wheel arches, though in others areas the changes are a bit more subtle (rear fenders/inner fenders, etc).
Leading evidence: 'mk1 996 does have a stiffer chassis' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'mk1 996 does have a stiffer chassis' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace are a bit more subtle (rear fenders/inner fenders, etc)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

I bought a set from Carnewal and my set came with the whole set up including sawy bars.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am about to order this from Carnewel but i have read conflicting/confusing info on previous posts and perhaps someone can chime in on this to clear it up for me.............?
I have the standard American suspension therefore do i just buy the 4 struts or do i also need the torsion bars etc......
I have read that if you have the M030 suspension (which I presume is the standard American suspension) then you don't need to buy the torsion bars because the X74 torsion bars are the same as the M030?
p.s. I am excited to have this gear on my car based on what everyone has written as comments before/after!!
Pete
you dont have torsion bars
keep in mind bigga anti-sway (anti-roll or just "SWAY") bars will reduce body roll - if the kit comes with them great..if not you can change at any time, does not effect alignment and can be done in the driveway while its raining
(ask me how I know)
The M030 is not the standard American suspension. M032 is the standard touring suspension found on many U.S. Cars.

, plug in your vin, and it will tell you which suspension your car came with from the factory. Keep in mind that someone may have already changed the suspension if you are not the orignal owner.
Best advice. The M030 is not standard, it was an option, so you need to make sure whether you have it or not. If you are not sure, best to get the torsion bars.
One more thing to consider. I see you have a '99. Torsional rigidity on the 911 was significantly beefed up starting 2002 and up. Porsche originally did not recommend the X73/X74 suspensions for pre-2002 911's. I think they still don't, but many have been happy regardless.
Unless you are running this car as a FULL race car on full slicks (Not Hoosier R6's) the Mrk1 996 will never have any issues with the X73/74 kit. Place the sways from the kit on the car... Then you will have new rubber bushings, forget the GT3 sways unless you are tracking the daylights out of the car.
When you are done... Drive it like you stole it and enjoy!
I discussed this with Gert from Carnewal and there should be no issues. I like the X-74 a lot. If you ever in Ottawa PM me and you can feel it for yourself (unless of course you just go ahead and do it
)
And you do need the sway bars, the stock ones are smaller diameter.
Also don't forget the engine protection plate - the car really rides lower and the protection is worth it.
This is fascinating to me... I remember when the 996 came out in 1999 and the sales literature explained that the "new" 911 was 1) built as a Cab first, and 2) a significantly more rigid platform than the 993. I don't frequent the 996 board that often, but to learn that Porsche had to stiffen the car in '02 makes my blood boil!
My $0.02.
I suspect the Mk1 996 does have a stiffer chassis that the 993, but that doesn't mean that newer technology and more powerful motors in the Mk2 didn't call for even more stiffening of the chassis. I suspect that the 997.2 is even stiffer, and the 991 will be even stiffer.
It's just automotive evolution. I think most of us would be disappointed if they stopped making these cars better.
I am a very satisfied x-74 owner!!!
After two summers with over 20 track days the car is awesome, it rotates around corners beautifully, tracking flat and much faster.
The package was ordered from Gert..
Thanks
The 996 chassis is significantly stiffer than the 993, however it was further stiffened for 2002 with fairly substantial updates. Extra bracing, more webbing, etc. are clearly visible around the front subframe mounts and wheel arches, though in others areas the changes are a bit more subtle (rear fenders/inner fenders, etc).
