Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Kind of spooky in rain on the bike and annoying in the 911 since when dry you get a sound like you just took the corner at 35mph and inviting a policeman to check the nice little car out.
Leading evidence: 'Check nice little car out' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check nice little car out' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Remove clutches in your rear diff, replace dual mass clutch, buy cheap hard tires.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Regarding chirping the tires or breaking the rear tires loose, it seems difficult to do with the C4S (unless, of course, I rev the hell out of it). I even have the X51 345hp package.
Does everyone else have the same "issue"? I mean, it's supposed to be 5/95 torque split under normal conditions and 40/60 at worst. So I would assume that it would have been somewhat easy to break the rear tires loose with minimal clutch pop into 1st gear. Instead, I would have to rev the hell out of the engine to chirp the tires in 1st with the PSM off.
Ideally, I'd also like to be able to chirp the tires hard shifting into 2nd gear, but that's not easy to do either. When I do get to do it in the 1-2 shift, the PSM light kicks in without me hearing the tires chirp.
So should I just buy really cheap tires since the Michelin Pilots are too sticky? I know it sounds pretty juvenile wanting to chirp the tires (I'm on the "older side" age-wise although my wife challenges me on that), but I find this somewhat stress relieving.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I know what you mean... I can't do it in my wife's Audi A4 either. I can do it in my Boxster S, but I put that away for the winter. The C4S doesn't see snow, but I drive it as a backup car during the winter. I would have bought a 40th Anniversary car if it had the wide body...
chirping tires... really?
I have done it off the start maybe once.... it is def possible. Never tried in second. A good fast shift doesn't invlving chirping!
Why would you want to loose traction intentionally while accelerating? These cars are too good to bark tires with the AWD. If you want thrills go to the track, my tires screetch in the corners when pushed to the limit but no matter how hard you accelerate you will only break traction in the wet for a split second before AWD adjusts.
No need for a new clutch yet... it's solid.
I don't want to do this
all
the time... just some of the time. As I mentioned, it's somewhat of a stress relief for me. You can't possibly tell me that you don't feel like driving like a hooligan every once in a while... And also, I've been doing the track events since 1992. So I got that covered. But we don't do track events in the winter in the Northeast...
If it's important, disconnect the front drive shaft, and add a supercharger. disconnect or overide some of the electronics for LSD, traction control, ABD active brake diff, or whatever systems your car may have to keep this from happening. Remove clutches in your rear diff, replace dual mass clutch, buy cheap hard tires. DONE!
Could be worse....at least you are not going postal!!
Can't say though that I chirped the tires on my C4. Had a '74 Camaro that would do in High School...
Time to add another car to your stable. Maybe get a 2006-2009 4.6L Mustang (these cars have taken it on the chin in value since the intro of the 5.0L) and add supercharger and there you go!
Even with a C2 the best you'll get is some substantial wheel hop.
Now a GT2, that's a different story.....
An occasional tire chirp is a more elegant way to get the honeys' attention than honking the horn. It's sad but some of us need all the props we can get!
turn off track control, drive thru a large spot of water... possibly crystal lake... then see how that works for you.
That should relieve some stress and get the girls attention.
I cant get anything in 2nd either. But I have really wide tires on the back. I think I got a little here and there... But it depends on the road surface and current conditions.
No one has suggested it so I will.
1) place tips of toes of left foot on clutch pedal, depress clutch completely
2) plant right foot firmly on accelerator pedal
3) allow revs to rise to maximum, allow engine to bounce off rev limiter.
4) slide left foot off of clutch pedal quickly, allow clutch to spring up on it's own, do not take foot off of accelerator.
That *should* do it. Take a video if you can.
LOL... no need to bounce it off the limiter, 6k in revs with PSM off should do just fine..
but seriously in the OP he mentions that no chirp, just the PSM light come on? Too funny... Trying to break the tires loose with the traction control on?
Try playing the take off from the line so that you go over heavy white paint lines for the crosswalk. We have some real aircraft carrier sized one here. Kind of spooky in rain on the bike and annoying in the 911 since when dry you get a sound like you just took the corner at 35mph and inviting a policeman to check the nice little car out. Not even a whimper with out the darn whire lines.
Where to begin? Traction is what most people want, you do not for some reason.
You do realize the engine is in the back, right? All that weight over the wheels will improve traction.
AWD-will improve traction too
Wide rear tire- again, improved traction
PSM-yep, you guessed it traction!
Not a lot of torque from this motor, especially at the low end.
Finally, your clutch will not grab like that of a muscle car on a dump. It will tend to slip and you will tend to need new one's more often.
