Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace enough of it' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace enough of it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Except the additional weight on the front, is there any different between 2WD and 4WD suspension.
If I get a fully adjustable suspension package that is originally sold for 996 C2. will it fit my C4S (with the necessary adjustments of course) ?
Thanks
good to know, thanks.
Do you know what's different ? All look identical. I didn't have the opportunity to put one RWD and one 4WD side by side however.
IIRC the differences are subtle, not sure exactly as I has a C2 and went through the process in reverse of you... asked and was told "NO" they dont cross
AWD in this case really means R/awd, the engine torque biased to the rear, in this case HEAVILY biased to the rear. In normal driving the "natural" friction of the viscous fluid is the only element coupling torque to the front, not more than 10% if even that. It takes up to 20 seconds of differing, seriously differing, driveline rotation rate rear to front before theVC will "stiffen" anywhere close to full measure.
The 997-2 now has a new method, under ECU control, of front torque coupling that will most definitely be quicker reacting, maybe even pre-emptively activating.
Im sure this has been asked before but....
Can an early C4 (99) be converted to C2 status? From what Im being told the trans is basically the same and the front output can just be "plugged" off. Can the suspension be changed out for a C2?
Tim
I still try to understand why a C2 suspension kit, except the weight repartition, wouldn't fit a C4 ?
Also I'm concerned with those converting their C4 or Turbo to RWD : don't front bearings need the transmission shaft to hold them tight in place (like it was on the 964) ?
It should fit... but if you keep the awd, the c2 suspension is not optimal for the extra drive shaft geometry.... the diff may be subtle, but they are different for a reason.
Well, Suspension is such a vague word.... wheel carriers, control arms, sway bars, coilovers.... if you replace enough of it. It will fit.... As for the obstruction, I was assuming he was pulling out the shaft, and putting in a c2 carrier.... if he is not..... then no, it will not fit.
I don't know about 20 seconds, but according to our very knowledgeable friend Mr. Streather's book, (p.257):
"The ZF front-drive unit provides the 996 AWD models with a minimum permanent 5% front-drive at all times, and as driving speed increases more drive is transferred forward until a 30% front and 70% rear drive split is achieved at approximately 250kph (155mph)."
cool.
So Can I use a set of 2 way Bilsteins + Eibach or Hyperco coilovers that is sold for the C2 on the C4S ?
I've looked at the hubs and nothing seems to be specific to the C4S/Turbo, but there's probably SOME difference others than spring rate and shocks adjustment...
Any information on that ?
Thanks
exactly.
my point is that the friction and/or transfer of driving torque is not based on time or engine RPM but road speed.
At 60 mph you're getting (roughly) 15-85....at 90, 20-80...and so forth.
It doesn't take me 20 seconds to reach 90mph
