This is not a probability of success.

I just used the parts pdf in the search box and came up with the second listed "Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Parts and Diagnostic" heading as a link to where you run the drop down boxes of the page to find your wanted parts manual in pdf form.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a hard time identifying the intake air temp sensor on my 996. Can somebody point me which one it is ? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Go to the porsche website..... http://www.porsche.com/ Then browse to the USA site and use the search function. Try the term "parts pdf" or Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Parts and Diagnostic I just used the parts pdf in the search box and came up with the second listed "Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Parts and Diagnostic" heading as a link to where you run the drop down boxes of the page to find your wanted parts manual in pdf form. The pdf has diagrams and part number listings with descriptions. Maybe you can find a picture that will help.

POST 3Original post

I believe passenger side, upper intake manifold.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I will check on the upper manifold passenger side, and will consult the PDFs if I'm too dumb to find it

POST 6Original post

The intake air temperature sensor is part of the MAF. The MAF measures both air flow and intake air temperature. From the Porsche 996 Carrera Tech Book "The intake air temperature sensor is installed in the mass air flow sensor housing and is therefore situated in the intake air flow of the engine."

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That totally makes sense. Thanks for the help ! I suspect I have wrong temperature sensor, the car runs smoothly (actually too rich) when it's under 65 deg and has issues above 70 deg. I could reproduce it this week-end using an air dryer, IDLE and low RPM become miserable if intake air is too hot. I guess I can't reproduce above 2000 RPM because the air dryer is not powerful enough to heat enough air to make a difference... Luc
