This is not a probability of success.

I also did brakes on few other then P cars and bikes and can see like the pads are easily replaced from outside (without removing calipers), like on my sportsbikes.

Suggestion

The pads are held in by the vibration dampers and need to be separated by using a thin metal blade.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am doing my first brake job on Porsche and I will be replacing the whole thing: rotors, pads, caliper bolts, wear sensors, damping pads, springs etc. I read all the info and know how to do it theoretically. I also did brakes on few other then P cars and bikes and can see like the pads are easily replaced from outside (without removing calipers), like on my sportsbikes. My question is this: Would it be easier to remove pads first and then all the rest or take calipers off first and then remove pads and dampers etc from the calipers. All the best, John

All you need to know. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-tutorial.html

POST 3Original post

That's a great tutorial! I would take the caliper off first. The pads are held in by the vibration dampers and need to be separated by using a thin metal blade. If you remove the calipers first, you can bypass this separation step.

POST 4Original post

if your rotors have deep ridge on the outter edge you might have to compress the caliper a little to gain enough space to clear the ridge with the pad... also open the master cylinder when pushing the plunger in and take care not to allow it to overfill... suck out the excess - I assume you are planning to flush the system too??

Saw a great demo on youtube. Just throw a search
