I am not a huge fan of the interior...but maybe it has changed since the last time i saw one on the inside.

They definitely could use some work on ergonomics in a couple of areas (for example the door pulls are cheap plastic pushbuttons, and they are located in different spots driver's/passenger's), but it's definitely more plush in there than a typical full leather 996.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

they're going to revoke my PCA membership for admitting to this, but I drove a fire engine red 08 corvette convertible with the z51 suspension and the sport cogs, exhaust, and i genuinely liked it.
I hadn't driven a modern one, this was leaps and bounds better than I expected. Was fairly nimble, plenty of power (436 hp / tons of torque according to the salespeople) and most surprisingly, a very high level of interior fit and finish compared to corvettes past.
I was driving pretty hard, and the top was down, so I can't speak to rattles and all that, but it was a blast, and they seem to be giving them away. I don't think I'd want to own one, but this would be a nice rental for a weekend in miami etc. I could definitely see this as convertible number 2 for me someday.
corvettes are nice and the engines huge...I have been told that they have the same engine as my escalade...don't knw if this is true..maybe the same block with mods.

yeah i said the same thing about the truck motor to a buddy who wanted to kill me soon thereafter. turns out it's the same 6.2L aluminium block as escalade ext/denali/h2, different accessories, top end. in vette it revved to 6700 or so and makes a little more power per the spec sheet. SC @ ~$6K makes ~600 at the crank
the deal killer on a vette for me: insurance, which edmunds estimates to be 5-6K per year! I'm at like 1700/annum on the P and my car's 6.5 years old, 1MM coverage, premium wheels/tires declared. New Carrera cab looking better now!
I am damned straigth to helll......I am driving a camouflaged corvette!!! who could have imagined?!!?LOL
I will ban myself from rennlist Monday.........Happy 4th
Ok...so I am at my daughters weekly soccer game and one of the other fathers that drives a 2004 C4 comes up to me and says " come see what I traded the Porsche in for.............as we walk up to his new GT500 Mustang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was polite, bit my tongue and said "nice car" "enjoy it"
I understand the need for tire burning torque by some and as my wife explained to me (I was still stunned that anyone could go from a Porsche to a Mustang) maybe the Mustang was his dream as the Porsche was mine!?
So I guess....why not a Corvette for some!

All three of these cars have been around for over 40 years, and they each have a very devoted following. As great as the C6 is, especially when price is considered, I just don't like its styling. I just wish that GM did what Porsche did with the 911. Evolve the shape rather than significantly change it. My favorite Vette was the C2. If GM would integrate its current technology into the C2 body, I'd be one of the first ones to buy one.
I like Corvettes, and the Z06 is just a beast. But I love my 996. Both cars have kind of rough images for owners. The Corvette owner is a Guido type with lot's of gold jewelry and driving gloves. The Porsche owner is pompous a$$hole who think's he's better than everyone else.
I've driven the hi-po shelby, it's the complete opposite of good
if anyone's interested in driving corvette on their next trip, avis rents them for ~150/day in sunny locales like MIA and LAX (but not Vail sadly)
The Z06 is a true sports car. Posted a faster lap that a Zonda and an F430 on Top Gear's track!!! Although this makes the Z06 not as road-friendly as a 996 or regular corvette.
I recently drove my friends C5 Corvette, Chipped with exhaust mods and I was disappointed.
The car felt big and heavy and the steering feel was horrible for a sports car. Interior was tipical American car and it was kind of scary to go fast. Seems like you have to keep reving to feel the power.
Just my thoughts and first impression
Yeah I've never driven, but did sit in a couple of C5s, and they really looked terrible inside, rattled a lot and didn't feel super quick. The 2008 C6 I drove was a lot, lot better, and I had it up into the triple digits with no real fear.
Dude I thought the same thing going into it, but the one I drove, which admittedly was probably the highest trim level convertible, was very sharp, all carbon fiber and leather-wrapped, no giant GM / Delco etc switchgear, touch nav system might have helped there. They definitely could use some work on ergonomics in a couple of areas (for example the door pulls are cheap plastic pushbuttons, and they are located in different spots driver's/passenger's), but it's definitely more plush in there than a typical full leather 996.
Who knows if it will be durable though!
Well, I'm going to drive the M3 this weekend, and I f I can manage to find one, an Evo X (and I'll try to snag a ride in a GTR when they come as well). Not getting rid of the 996, but I'm always looking for another addition!
Corvettes and Porsche are completly different breds........ bang for the buck corvettes are nice... but there's gotta be more then just putting down hp on the tarmack.... like stlye, handling, history, feedback...... gotta tell ya.... i love all of it on the porsche, and some only on the corvette.....
agreed, I'm not sure why the cars get compared so much aside from pricepoint.
I was impressed with how far the corvette seems to have come in apparent build quality, it's been a long time since I've been in a high-line domestic car that wasn't a town car (taxi).
I just sold my C6 to buy my C4S. The C6 is worlds above the older models and the top trim levels are now all leather. Improvements were made in '07 to the transmission and steering so it is not as "numb" feeling. The power of the Vette is buteish but power is not everything. The Porsche feel is intimate while the Vette feels more remorte. I'm staying with Porsche.
