Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

6 months is too long to wait to find out that you're either running too low on pressure and wearing our your tires (and risking failure of your tire), or running too high on pressure and risking a blow-out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I make a habit of checking my vehicles(6) tire pressures monthly, and I lost my air pressure gauge(manual dial). So what do you guys use? The electronic digital ones or manual gauge, or even the cheap pen ones? and which one would be more accurate? Thanks, Daniel

POST 2Original post

Pen gauges work fine. You should be checking your tire pressures at least monthly, as tire pressure varies depending upon the weather, plus it will naturally lose pressure over time. 6 months is too long to wait to find out that you're either running too low on pressure and wearing our your tires (and risking failure of your tire), or running too high on pressure and risking a blow-out. Either way you're wearing your tires out prematurely. Want to find the best way to influence gas milage? Look to your tire pressures! Tire pressure influences not only grip and cornering efficiency, but also gas milage. ...Checking once every six months and you may as well not bother at all. Your tires are the most critical piece of safety equipment on your car, neglect them at your peril!

POST 3Original post

I guess you were saying you do check them monthly, but have to do it 6 times per month. I've got 2 digital gauges, they're quick & easy to read LARGE numbers and precise to 1/10th. They're so cheap now, why use a cheesey pen gauge anymore....

POST 4Original post

Ahh, I misread. Apologies. 6 months would have been really bad.

POST 6Original post

I've got one of these and it's great! Very accurate and also clamps on to the valve stem. If you don't mind a little extra expense, this is a great gauge... http://www.autosportcatalog.com/index.cfm?fa=p&pid=3579
