How did you overcome the air duct issue for the radiators when you installed the C4S bumper.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

you say you took those shots last night - where are you Alaska????
very nice looking! I'd prefer my car to be like that as well but that front end would be gone in no time flat thanks to the roads here. you must live in glass!!!
Are there a lot of people out there that enjoy this setup? I am worried that the x74 will make my 40ths nose scrape even more than it does. Has anyone regretted x74 and turbo bumper combo?
GBG - could you post some more pictures when you get the chance? I have the same wheels and am considering the x74 suspension plus a yet to be determined nose. If you have any more pictures, especially from different angles, I'd really like to see them.
thanks,
kristap
...I had the X74 suspension installed last fall on my 40th, and have not had any issues with scraping. Really completes a great look; car looks and performs as it should. Also, don't forget PSE so it sounds like a 911 too!
I really like the set up. The x74 suspension should be standard, in my view. Sure, it's stiffer and lower to the ground, but the car rides sooo much better. (Go buy a BMW if you need more ride comfort and clearance.
)
Wow the turbo front end looks really good as does the suspension setup. How much did the turbo front end conversion cost you? Any added performance benefit (lighter, more aerodynamic of something)?
Some more pics, per request:
The cost will vary depending on whether you buy new or used. I bought a new TT bumper-- bumper plus installation cost me $4000.
Thanks for the pixs....I think that (if feasable) you add spacers and you got yourself a VERY sweet look.
Might have to buzz Gert once my baby wakes up from her winter sleep.
here's a few shots of mine with the turbo nose, turbo bumper, turbo wing, and cargraphic sport springs. you do have to be careful on driveways with the springs and the lip. the lip scrapes a lot! i didn't bother painting it because it scrapes just about every time I drive the car.
Deputydog-- looks great. Can you tell me more about the Turbo rear bumper. Where did you get it? Is it OEM? How much, if you don't mind my asking. I was under theimpression that the OEM TT rear bumper doensn't fit on the narrow body 996 unless you're willing to do a lot of body work. Am I wrong? Thanks.
I don't think it is an OEM Turbo rear bumper -- look at the two slits in the middle. Is it the Cargraphic Turbo-look bumper?
I believe the OEM Turbo rear bumper will fit a narrow-body car. One of our fellow Rennlist members, DonW-Cape Cod, did this conversion for his cab. Even though the rear quarter panels of the Turbo and C4S are flared, the bumper itself is only about a 1/4" or so wider than the narrow-body bumper. However, if you get the OEM Turbo bumper you may have to fiddle with the exhaust tips because they are spaced differently.
There are aftermarket Turbo-look bumpers made specifically for narrow-body cars. Check out RUF bumper in the picture below. You can contact Weissach or the new RUF Autocentre in Dallas for pricing. (Cargraphic, MA Shaw and others make one too.)
My front bumper is OEM. I got it from
www.6speedlonline.com
Their classified section is awesome. Actually the whole forum over there is great.
My rockers came from the factory.
The rear bumper and wing are turbo-look. They are made by Anziano's in CA. Nice stuff. Took a lot of prep, but then again, all the aftermarket stuff does.
Yes, you can use a OEM turbo rear bumper. However, it does not fit quite right like the front bumper does. It's close. Depends on how picky you are. Most people would probably never pick up on it. Don's car looks great. You have to get extensions for the tips, and then new tips themselves to match the cutouts. It's a fairly expensive proposition. It sticks out slightly around the taillights. But it is very close. Supposedly if you really want to cut on it, you can make it fit just about perfect.
My anziano bumper on the other hand, fit up pretty nicely. Major downside is that it's not oem flexible urethane, so it won't take a light impact as nicely as an oem bumper would. I'm really happy with the anziano piece. I figure even if I got lightly rear ended, I'd end up having to have a urethane bumper repaired as well, so I went with the less expensive, simpler solution. The anziano piece came with grills for the side and rear holes as well. Looks sharp.
How did you overcome the air duct issue for the radiators when you installed the C4S bumper. I believe the C2 air ducts dont match too good? I am pricing it up at the moment to do my car
Ive also a 996 C2 Cab, and have been thinking on dropping the Carrera 4 S front bumper and 02 GT3 side skirts, but some how, Im afraid of the non original final
althought I like very much the 40th anniv model.

The air ducts work fine. As a matter of fact, I had the turbo ducts and didn't end up using them. Some people say they like the turbo ducts better because they're less visible through the grill. I don't really notice the stock ones at all, so I left them alone. The turbo bumper holes are plenty big enough to get air in there. Much more so than stock. No one has ever commented on the look of the ducts, so I never messed with the turbo ones and sold them. You do have the option of shortening the stock ducts to make them larger and less visible if it really bothers you. I had someone email a pic of their car with the turbo ducts on it, and I really couldn't notice the difference.
BTW: Turbo bumper and C4S bumper are the same. The only diff is that the turbo has a diff lower lip and the C4S center grill is closed because it does not have the 3rd radiator. Ideally your best combo is turbo bumper, turbo lip, and C4S grills (at least the center one) to cover the center hole.

there are a bunch of us that have done this mod. We've all done posts on how to to the conversion.
The 6speed forum is the best if you have any interest in modding your 996. Much better than this forum in that aspect. This forum always seems to be a step behind.
