Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

last time i checked bleeding the coolent system was a major job-
Leading evidence: 'Check bleeding the coolent system was a major job' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check bleeding the coolent system was a major job' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

This is the piece that replaces the flimsy and soft shift arm that moves up and down.

You need to come out with a linkage set like Porsche Motorsports uses on their 996 based race cars.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Howdy
I have been testing the prototype of the Agency Power 996 Shift Linkage. This is the piece that replaces the flimsy and soft shift arm that moves up and down. The one that would break down, wear out, or give you slop in shifting. You usually bang through the gears hard up and down, not side to side...
I am running this in combination with a B&M shifter and the throw is short, stiff, and into gear perfect everytime.
I just wanted to give you a sneak peak as production is coming soon. I also wanted to get feedback of those that are using others parts on the market and their impression.
MSRP will be about $90 and the will be Gold bodies with machined connecting rod.
Thanks
Dan!
Good Question
Due to the way the piece is made, there is really a limit on how you can fit it and design it. Our piece is full CNC Machined 6061 aluminum The dowel is also aluminum and all hardware is full stainless steel. It will be anodized as well. Our piece will retail $50 less then theres.
By the way--has anyone thought of making a shift gate for the 996 that is similar to the Ferrari gate? I would bet that a billet aluminum or similar look would be very popular. I for one would be happy to drop some bucks for this mod...
As long as we are coming up with our fabricated mods wish list . . . what about making some shifting paddles for the tiptronic selectors on the the steering wheel? What do you guys think - Good, bad, or just ugly?
Like the E46 M3 has? Dont know if that is possible...
On the Fabrication note...we can always do 1 off limited edition pieces, but you pay BIG BUCKs instead of a quantity sell alot of product. You know????
Please keep the ideas flowin. Here is what is in the works for the 996 right now -
Sway Links - Done
Rear Camber and Toe Links
Rear Under Brace
Shift Linkage
Intake Kit
Aluminum Radiator
Shift ****
Carbon Fiber Kit
Melinium Transformer (dude wheres my car!)
Anything is possible...just money and time!
Aluminium Radiator(s)? 2 or 3?
last time i checked bleeding the coolent system was a major job-
not to mention weight needs to be reduced from the rear - were talking 1-2 Kilos (in the front) with a redesigned radiator system.
Needs to be more effecient in cooling with 2 to be worth it - IMHO
How about a stainless steel polished coolant expansion tank, billet expansion tank & oil filler cap and a racing type tow hook that screws in to the original mounting point.
Hegemon, such steeringwheel is available from SpeedArt

Ciao,
Johannes E.
I don't know when the last time was you looked at a female socket, but I don't recall any that I looked at (and I looked at quite a few) looking like black plastic.
It should be possible to make the center gap wide enough (top to bottom) to accomodate the rectangualr profile of the shifter (both OEM and B&M), don't you think? The whole piece would follow the outline of the horseshoe shaped metal trim around the leather boot, and snap into the same clips in the rear center console. You might even be able to re-use the outside trim piece. If you allow extra space in each channel, the same gate might work for standard and short-shift equipment. Let me know if you want to work on this with me--I think (at the right price) there is a large market for this.
The shifter inside piece is Dolrine...I probably spelled that wrong. It is like urethane but much harder. This allows for the shifter to pop in place. The material is very rigid. So less slop.
Great Ideas keep them comin.
Bavarian chat with me on AIM.
Follow up on"Porrari" Shift Gate Idea:
I have disappointing news concerning my shift gate idea. I removed my **** and boot and took some measurements yesterday. There is no way the idea would work for the 996, especially with the short shift kit. The hinge point of the shifter is almost at the same level as the top of the rear center console where the gate would have to be, and the forward to rear distance (i.e. first to second gear) is no more than an inch in all. Oh well, it was not meant to be!
Thanks to Scouser and Vividracing for contributing....
You need to come out with a linkage set like Porsche Motorsports uses on their 996 based race cars. They use a very beefy cable connector and linkage with the plain old plastic stock shifter, very stout looking.
I think you may be referring to "Delrin" which has low friction and tough properties for plastic. It is an acetal resin from Dupont and is widely used as low pressure low speed bearing material. 6061 Aluminum is pretty standard stuff, in fact it's what you usually get from your corner metal supermarket unless you specify otherwise. In T6 form it is relatively hard with a tensile (UTS) of about 80K PSI if my memory serves. Any yield will be in the Delrin which looks well supported by the carrier. Nice work.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
