Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
It's OK to run around without coating the polished lips but make sure you buy plenty of metal polish and elbow grease!

Suggestion
Kinesis/Fikse/OZ/HRE all recommend that they service your wheels and use new bolts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok...another question.
Does the clear coat get messed up easily? I ask becuase I was looking at set of used Sport Designs, that the owner says have been freshly polished. I asked about the clear coat and was told that it gets messed up easily and that he didn't have it re clear coated? Logical sounding or crap?
The clear coat will only be messed up with curb rash. Blowing smoke telling you that it gets messed up easily. As for the sellers excuse that is either being cheap or lazy. If it is not clearcoated you need to be careful what you used to clean you wheels because you can have a bad reaction.
It's not clearcoat it is a polyurethane film fronm the BBS factory. If the lip is plished and not coated with either the polyurethane film or clearcoat, you will have an acid reaction and the metal will turn dull.
I have a 2nd set of Sport Design rims for my track tires that I have had painted graphite grey with polished lip since they were in a pretty bad condition when I purchased them used. The polished and clearcoated lip looks more like chrome to be honest but looks cool together with the graphite grey centers.
Ciao,
Johannes E.
Mr.C4,
Do have a picture of your polished lip next to the factory polished? I am curious to see the difference. So I take it you had the lip clearcoated after the polish.
Whenever you separate the centers from the rims, you should be using new bolts and making sure you torqued it correctly and in the right sequence.
BBS never discloses this info. OZ only does it for you. Kinesis/Fikse/HRE only does it for you. Sometimes they tell you the specs, but advise that you do get new bolts.
If I am not mistaken, Wheel Enhancement seperates the two and reuses the same bolts. You may want to give them a call. Just repeating what Wheel Enhancement told me when I inquired about my Sport Designs.
Yeah, i'm sure wheel enhancements will cut corners and say it's OK to reuse old bolts since they haven't had any lawsuits pending against them, but i'm just spewing back what the manufacturers told me when i wanted to mess with my BBS LMs. Kinesis/Fikse/OZ/HRE all recommend that they service your wheels and use new bolts. Whether this is for pure $$$ making pursposes or w/ safety concerns in mind or a little bit of both....
I share this info with you so y'all know what might be in your best interest when you think about tinkering around with wheels that face high Porsche-style stress.
Thanks for heads up BC. I will make sure I request new bolts (which I prefer anyway) if I go with Wheel Enhancement. Better safe than sorry!
Cheers, Dell
Painting is nowhere near as durable as powdercoating. Which is the reason why people are often compelled to powdercoat v. paint which then requires center/rim separation
