Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I am new to this forum, not new to Porsche family. I am interested in a 1999 996 Cab. It has a matching hard top, and full leather seating. Other than that, pretty much stock. Approximately 55K miles. Is $30K a good deal or average? Appreciate your thougths. Jay

POST 2Original post

private party or dealer? does it have extended warranty? is it certified? seems like a very reasonable price.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Private party. No warranty. Recent 60K service performed.

POST 4Original post

if you like the car, get a thorough PPI done by a porsche dealer or a reputable/trustworthy independant. this is a good price!

POST 5Original post

Think you can pay to see the carfax on it online. They can tell if it's been crashed and rebuilt, or flood damaged or had odometer work...

POST 6Original post

And get an aftermarket or certified warranty ASAP..

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Carfax was clean. Pretty well taken care of. Some minor bug and stone chips, nothing unusual.

POST 8Original post

that's a little below what I thought market would be, but the miles are higher compared to other comps. keep in mind that 55k may seem high now, but is still no big deal at all. If all checks out, I would grab it and enjoy every mile

POST 9Original post

That seems really cheap to me.....and i agree 55 k is nothing, hell i almost did that in 11 months!!

Thanks for all your feedback. I had a feeling that it's a good deal. I am going to jump on it. I have been doing a lot of homework on this site as well as others. The only thing I have not been able to check on the car is the convertible top. The hard top is currently on the car, and I just wanted to make sure there are no problems with the soft top. I had read somewhere that, if the rear plastic window is damaged, it could be expensive to fix.
