Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

The bumperettes that were on the first year of the 996 tt. Not sure if they can be removed without a hole. Check with the guys on the 996tt board.

POST 3Original post

You could always order a UK-spec front PU that doesn't have the bumperettes to start with Ian W

POST 4Original post

The bumperettes only came on very early production TT's. Sort of like the amber signals on the front of the 996 in 1999.

POST 5Original post

Do a search on this. I remember it being talked about before. Basically they were added POST HOC production (not in the design process) becasue they failed the USDOT front bumper height crash requirements and added the bumperettes as a quick fix to meet the USDOT request or delivery of any car without them was NOT allowed. Obviously this was fixed before the 02's were delivered.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
