Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ever since I sold my 964 we've been looking for our next Porsche. After months of searching, I think we've finally narrowed our search down to a 2002 996 Coupe. It has to have Tiptronic (so the wife and I can share it) and any other options are a plus. I'd like to find one in excellent condition with less than 24k miles and I'm willing to pay around $50k. When do you think the 2002 prices will come down to that level? I'm hoping that this fall/winter, after the release of the 997, we'll be able to find one for that price. Any opinions on this? Is my thinking correct? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

C2, C4 or C4S? Makes a difference. Either way I think you are going to need more than $50K. A recent check on some auction reports shows a number closer to $60K wholesale which translates to mid 60's on the lot. Good luck.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, a C2. I know that they are going for from $55k-65k right now, but I've seen 2001 C2 Coupes in the high forties to low 50's earlier in the year and that's what I'm hoping happens to the 02's later this year. (to that end I've also seen 99's for $50k plus although I doubt they would ever get that...)
