Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How much wind / road noise gets through the top vs. a coupe?

POST 3Original post

Not much at all. In fact I told a buddy of mine it was super quiet, and the first time he rode with me he said, "I know you said it was quiet, but I didn't believe you." It is pretty quiet. I prefer it to the hard top cuz the hardtop creaks and squeeks like mad.

POST 4Original post

It is surprisingly comfortable and quiet with the top up - I am on the phone all the time for work. I have never received a comment or complaint from a client while driving the P-Car if the top is up. Now that the weather is warm, I just have to avoid those calls during my commute so that I can put the top down more often!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys! I've had some good luck and bad luck with convertibles in the past but i really want to get a cab for my next p-car.

POST 6Original post

When I flew out to DFW to see and test drive my car, a Corvette conv. driving buddy picked me up at the airport and accompanied me on the test drive. We drove first with the top down, then stopped to put it up. As I took off again, he was stunned by the quiet. Hasn't stopped talking about it. I've never ridden in a 996 coupe, but my car is quieter, top up, than a 993 coupe.

POST 7Original post

I just got my cab a few days ago and I'm amazed at how quiet it is with the top up. Definitely quieter than other drop-tops I've owned.

POST 8Original post

Hi Its reely quite nice, Alittle air comeing in from somewhere, But 9 out of 10 the top is down

POST 9Original post

I have never had a better top on a car. And that is including some coupes and sedans!! The noise and wind absorpution is really quite impressive.

POST 11Original post

I agree too. Top up, very quiet. Of course I try and have the top down as much as possible though!

POST 12Original post

Depends. If your flooring it from the lights then its noisy......but we all love that noise If your talking about cruising along at a nice pace, say 100Mph then its as quiet as a sleeping baby. But then again I have my music blasting away I have Fabspeed kit fitted and I also have 19" wheels. They both make a difference to the noise level. But still, its very comfortably quiet with the top up.

POST 13Original post

Never driven a coupe, but drove my Cab over 1600 miles on a trip and never thought about wind noise so I guess it's quieter than my Harley. :-)

POST 14Original post

As quiet as the cabriolet is, it's amazing how much quieter it gets with the hardtop on. It's not that the rag top is loud (indeed, as everyone intimated above, it's really very quiet), it's just that the car goes deathly silent when the hardtop is in place. And of course, bear in mind that I have an aftermarket exhaust and LOVE that sound. I'll have to figure out a way to port it through the hardtop.

POST 15Original post

If the top does not go down it is not a Sports Car!
