Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I basically just put masking tape around where the old black badge was, took out the old badge using some dental floss (Johnson & Johnson, waxed, mint flavored) to slide behind the badge and cut through the gum/glue, cleaned the surface using gum out and some polish, then placed the new silver badge in the spot marked off by the masking tape.
Leading evidence: 'Clean surface' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'slight contour change' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check later if there are different p/ns' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have the badge P/N at home so I can check later if there are different P/Ns for the different years.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Yesterday I received a nice little care package from Bumperplugs (thanks Eric). Along with the painted bumperettes and a silver hood badge, I ordered a new silver "Carrera" badge for my decklid. (The original owner debadged).
I guess the correct placement for my 99 would be high, just under the spoiler, but I find the lower placement more visually appealing. At what point did the Carrera script move anyway...with the facelift?
I don't suppose anyone would be willing to give me an accurate measurement for the lower placement? I can center the badge easily enough but how high from the bottom of the decklid is the factory placed badge? Thanks,
-Mike
Here is mine with Carrera badge placement on a '99, it is lower not higher but it just matters what your taste is. Not driving the car today so I can't measure, maybe someone who is in their car today can get a measurement for you.
IIRC, there is a different curvature in the script for the 99-01 v. 02+ becasue of the lid location of it. If anybody can back that up it would help. But I remember readin that here (or over on Renntech.org) when somebody was having problems getting the script to sit flush. The fix was to move the script to the opposite section (hi or low) because the script they ordered was meant for an 02+ and they were putting it up high. Either way, I think you should be able to locate it hi or low depending on your persoanl pref. One suggestion, when you do itstall it find the exact location you want it and make sure you have it all centered and level, etc., and install a horizontal piece of painters tape to creat a ruled line so you don't install it at a slight angle. Also, when you have applied it, tape it down nicely with painters tape to hold it in place overnight to form a good bond.
Mike,
In my haste to get the original answer posted, I neglected to give proper credit. This info was in my harddrive courtesy of Loren at RennTech.
The placement definitely changed with the 2002MY. I believe that is due to a slight contour change.
Here are the placement specs: For a MY99 C2 use:
A and B = 129.6 mm and C = 35 +-1 mm

Easy.
Here are a couple of pics of my '04, before (with the black Carrera script [OEM]) and after with teh silver script. Placed the silver script in teh exact location of the black script.
