Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Dell, yes, I have checked Renntech but nothing caught my eye and in your post you seemed to imply there's something you want to leave it to the indy instead.
Leading evidence: 'Check renntech' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check renntech' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Circle Imports wanted around $700, but most of the items were "check this, inspect that, etc." He called an independed (Auto Strasse - Newport/Costa Mesa) and they told him around $600 with plugs changed I believe.

Suggestion
I would be weary of an indy that does multiple cars especially if they filled the car with non-factory fill.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Up to now the car has been under warranty and It was easier to just take it to the dealer and if any problems were found, they could fix them under warranty...now the car is out of warranty and I called the dealer who quoted me $1100 for the 30k service.....I was thinking more like $600...but they said the 30k was pretty extensive and took the better part of a day to complete....So maybe I'll shop around, or find a good independent in SoCal....Ideas?
I have gotten very different quotes from different dealerships, but I decided to go to an indy shop that I take my BMW to... I will plan to continue to go to a good indy shop, as long as I can trust them. i have had 40% to 50% savings at indy shops, my BMW has 141K mi. and runs great... only prob is that this is the shop that may have filled my 996 w/ 5W30.. PM me if you want the shop name, they are overall a descent shop in Lake Forset.
I just had my 45k (minor) service done at TRE in N. Hollywood. They came highly recommended and I was very pleased.

I go to an indy shop, but it is Porsche only (or nearly exclusively porsche)... I would be weary of an indy that does multiple cars especially if they filled the car with non-factory fill.
My buddy is also shopping for a 30K service for his 2002 996. Newport Imports quoted him $1100 because they wanted to change the plugs, even though the book does not require it at 30K.

These are the guys who did my motor rebuild and Jeff is VERY knowledgable and will answer all of your questions. I would give them a call for a quote at least. [phone removed]
I did the 30K and part of the 60K myself then had my local indy finish it for about $200. Saved ALOT that way. Then during my next visit to the dealer for warranty work I had the usual code readings and TSB check.
Just curious, is there anything in the 30k or 60k maintenance that someone cannot DIY in a home garage (No, not the monster garage, just a regular joe's home garage)?

Dell, yes, I have checked Renntech but nothing caught my eye and in your post you seemed to imply there's something you want to leave it to the indy instead. That's why I asked. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post.
Thanks,
Ahsai
My apologies, I should have clarified what I did and what the indy did. I did everything except the plugs and poly belt. I could have done them as well but the car was on the rack getting a new clutch anyway and $200 was worth my time to NOT have to DIY.
