Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Test revo map' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test revo map' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just sold a 993 that had a perf CHIP that was just plug and play. BUT, I assume my 99 996 needs what you guys are calling a "flash". Where can I get the upgrade near atlanta? Also what is the best. I keep seeing you guys talk about evo, but it does not look like they have a location near me. Can any software be sent to a local shop here for loading via laptop????
Thanks. Anyone else? Also, my car seems pretty quick, quicker than my modded 993 which had about 300 hp. So, based on my "butt dyno" this 996 feels like it has more than the 300 stock. How can I tell if it has already been flashed or not? Besides a dyno of course.
i like the idea of the GIAC chips plus you can buy the flash loader and switch programs on the fly
this is what i am going with

Ok! Now we are getting somewhere. Looks like I can do the GIAC here locally up in Marietta Ga. The others I gotta travel for. So- back to part of my original question. Which is best, do they differ in torque delivery vs. hp delivery, more high end, low end, etc??????
I am testing a Revo map on my 00 996. You get five hours of driving time. It takes about five or six hard accelerations to train the new map and then it does feel different. My initial impressions is smoother power distribution throughout the curve (and maybe more power). I'll come back with more impressions over the weekend. I think I will know the difference when it reverts back to the original mapping.
its not because porsche didn't go to drive by wire until midway through 2000. by the way, based on your location, i bet you investigated it at Hersheimer (sp?). we are living in newport beach now and that is where I did it.
I really wish people would get this right. Drive by wire started in 99's on c4's and was then standard on ALL in 00. The only 996 that didn't have the drive by wire is the 99 c2.
Is that 5 hours of clock time or 5 hours of engine time? I am very interested in your opinions. Do you have a G-meter by any chance to get some objective data? Also, you are SF Bay area. Did you use Carlsen? Sorry for so many questions
I think five hours of engine time, which means idles count. I have to change my profile, I live in the OC now (recent move) and I got it done down here.
I don't have a G-meter, so I am judging seat of the pants. I think I will know more when it reverts back. Revo attracted me due to its simplicity.
