I currently have P-Zero Rosso's on my 996, and the rear tires (285/30/18) will, once again, need to be replaced soon.

I am committed to using my P-Car for the drive (there's no better stress reliever than climbing into your P-Car at the end of a long day at work) Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Happy New Years to everyone,
I know the tire question has been debated many times but this is a bit of a twist. I have been driving a 996 (on my third) as a daily driver since 1999. I put 50K miles on my 99 in two years along with 5 sets of rear tires (P-Zero Rosso). My commute the last 3 years has been 27 steps downstairs to my home office so mileage was never an issue. I have just accepted a new position that will require a 90-mile roundtrip commute daily. I no longer track my car and am primarily looking for ride quality, tire life and cost. I do not care about N rating or not, please don't flame me but I just do not think it matters. I am committed to using my P-Car for the drive (there's no better stress reliever than climbing into your P-Car at the end of a long day at work) Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Very happy with my Potenza RE750's so far. Put about 3.5K on them in warm, dry, cold, rain, and just about any other condition you could think of short of thick ice or snow. Can't notice even the slightest wear yet, sidewalls are pretty strong, and grip has been great. For the price, I'd definitely buy them again. Oh yeah, my car is DEFINITELY a commuter and dialy driver.
Hope this helps!
I currently have P-Zero Rosso's on my 996, and the rear tires (285/30/18) will, once again, need to be replaced soon. I am about 99.99% certain that I will be getting Bridgestone Potenza RE750's. The only problem I see with them is that the largest size available for the rears is 265/35/18. Check out the Tire Rack link below to see more about the RE750's.

I have the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. Great ride & handling and no discernible wear in 10K+ of daily driving. Check out the December Car & Driver. They rate it #1 among high performance tires, and praise it highly.
I have no complaints about there:

They are all I could get at short notice, and I paid $195 rear, $145 front. Low noise and feel good. Drastic improvement in tramlining over the Pirrellis on 18" wheels. I havn't put enough miles on them to tell you about wear.
Best
Keith
Thanks for the replys.
gota911 and UNCNIck: I looked at the RE 750 but I wanted to stay with 285/30 rears.
the wump see above
Kim: thanks for the info on the Goodyears I'll check them out.
Riad: How many miles do you get out of the rears with your Pilot Sports?
Thanks again for all your help as my new commute starts Tomorrow.

I average about 15K miles (maybe a bit more) but keep in mind that I commute in NYC with some of the worse roads on the planet... maybe all the planets.
I bought BF Goodrich G Force KDW's for my daily driver ('99 C2 Cab (summer only.)) I put 10,000 mile on them and they also show no sign of wear. These tires are sticky and and they look great. I know they are not N rated but they have been great and they are also wonderful in wet conditions. That's what the "W" stands for in KDW.
