Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just got "Porsche 996 THE Essential Companion" by Adrian Streather anybody else bought/reading it? i've got the one for the 964, as well....they are both really good

POST 4Original post

Got mine in '08. Many old regulars here have pics of their cars in it (not me, but...) See the section on putting in PSS9s and doing your own alignment? That was Jim Williams, who used to post here awhile back. I bought those PSS9s from him and installed them on my car wen he sold his 996 and pulled them off with around 12k miles on them. VERY nice guy. Fun reading, especially now that we know a lot more about the car with more experience.

POST 7Original post

I think I saw it on sale again. Maybe it was Amazon?

POST 8Original post

Got mine immediately after purchase of my 996. Great book!

POST 9Original post

Nice guy! Sent him a bunch of pictures that he used when he was putting it together.

POST 10Original post

Not really 'new,' unless there is an updated version from the original 2008 edition. A great reference and tremendous source for anyone thinking about buying a 996 or has just purchased. However, the book lacks in detailed information about some of the critical maintenance questions. His explanation of some issues is very defensive and pro-Porsche.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

[QUOTE=rpm's S2;10192171]Not really 'new,' unless there is an updated version from the original 2008 edition. OK....i purchased a book that has been out for a while....HOWEVER, the one i bought was still in the original packaging from the publisher and no one had opened it.....
