Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This might be a newb question but I was wondering if there was a way I would be able to remove the red strip that goes between the taillights and replace it with the all fiberglass piece that is on the 996 turbo. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Not sure if that would work but the question begs to asked...why would you want to change it? That body style is all sex!

POST 3Original post

You could replace the C4S decklid with a turbo decklid. There's not a seperate fiberglass piece on the turbo, it's a different decklid. IMHO, the red strip on the C4S is one of the defining features of that model, and I wonder why anyone would want to replace it...

POST 4Original post

The red stripe is classic, it's a throwback to older Porsche's, keep it!

POST 5Original post

maybe but in order to complete the look you might consider shaving the fenders and going with a narrow body rear end too YUK!! I longed to have that red strip - looks "all sex" like Pete said

POST 6Original post

It's mandatory if you are gonna cover up the center strip to also cut vent openings on the side of your rear quarter panels too. On that note, the best way is to probably get that trim piece painted. That way you can always replace that strip if you ever decide to sell it. Unless you want the turbo deck lid for $1500+...

POST 7Original post

Replacing the deck lid is the only way. There are a few options but all of them I have seen also require some type of fixed wing.

POST 9Original post

you cannot replace the C4s decklid w/ the turbo decklid. They're different size. You will need to do some fabrication/welding, etc. Way more trouble than worth.
